ITINERARY FOR THE WEEKEND OF FEBRUARY 1 - FEBRUARY 2, 2025

Valentine’s Day Preparations: Romantic Escapes and Adventures in Cardiff

Get ready for a romantic weekend in Cardiff, where history and modernity blend seamlessly. With mild weather and a plethora of activities, it’s the perfect time to explore the city’s iconic landmarks and vibrant culture.

Romantic Strolls and Historic Tales

As Valentine’s Day approaches, Cardiff offers a delightful blend of history and romance, perfect for couples looking to escape the ordinary. Start your weekend with a Cardiff Bay Tour on February 1st or 2nd, available from the early morning hours. This self-guided tour is a leisurely 2.5-mile walk through Cardiff Bay, where the past meets the present. As you wander through the historic Pierhead Building and the modern Senedd, you’ll be guided by Helen, whose deep connection to the area brings the stories to life. The tour is a perfect way to explore the transformation of Cardiff’s iconic docklands, from its industrial roots to a vibrant waterfront.

The weather is mild, with temperatures ranging from 34.2°F to 44.0°F on February 1st, making it a comfortable day for walking tours. The partly cloudy skies add a touch of mystery to the landscape, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. As you stroll along the Cardiff Bay Wetland Reserve or enjoy the views from the Harbour Wall Viewpoint, you’ll find yourself immersed in the beauty and history of this fascinating area.

Informative, fun, and really accessible - My husband and I offered to trial Helen’s walking tour as we live close to Cardiff. Despite visiting the Bay many times, there are a lot of features that I’ve walked past and not thought much of, or never researched when I got home. Helen’s tour was brilliant. It encouraged us to look in all directions, from the tops of buildings to down on the ground, and provided lots of fantastic information about buildings and landmarks I’ve seen so many times, but knew so little about. The total walk was about 4km which was really nice, and took us right down towards Penarth - somewhere else I’ve never been! We came away with lots of great knowledge, and recommendations for some great ice cream! I’d definitely recommend Helen’s tour if you’re visiting the Bay for a day trip because you’ll really get the most out of it, and you’ll learn a lot. (Reviewed at: 2023-12-11)

A Day of Discovery and Delight

For those who crave a more structured exploration, the Private Day Tour of Cardiff is a must. Available on both February 1st and 2nd from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, this exclusive day trip takes you through the heart of Cardiff, including Cardiff Castle, St Fagans, and Cardiff Bay. Led by a local guide, you’ll uncover the city’s rich history and vibrant culture, all while receiving insider tips on the best places to dine and explore.

The tour begins at Cardiff Castle, a stunning former stately home and Welsh national treasure. As you explore the castle’s keep and the Second World War Tunnels, you’ll be transported back in time, experiencing the city’s past in a way that’s both educational and entertaining. The weather on February 2nd is predominantly overcast, with temperatures feeling like 40.2°F, making it a cozy day to delve into Cardiff’s history.

Wonderful Day in Cardiff! - Our private day tour with Dewi was unsurpassed! We had the best time-we learned so much, and we now share Dewi’s love of Cardiff and Wales!! We highly recommend this tour- and please give Dewi a hug for us.. Best regards! (Reviewed at: 2023-09-28)
