Worth it! - Such a unique experience! Gabriella was our guide, and she was amazing. Highly recommended getting there early (we left our hotel at 6am) because you can have the experience all to yourself.

be prepared for the wild... - be prepared for the wild experience. I did it - no regrets, but my partner was not comfortable. I doubt if I would do it again. But thanks to everyone who helped me to get this mud slide on my list of accomplishments.

Great unique experience - It was cool! Go early so can avoid a line and hang out longer in the mud. Good views when up in the mud volcano, overlooking water. Guide recommended tipping $3 per guest per service (one guy carries your bags with you clothes/towels, another guy takes tons of pictures for you with your phone, and a third person if you want to walk out to wash up in the water after). Our guide was Fernando Herrera, he was great, got us there early so no waiting in line. We paid a little extra for private, well worth it!

Fun time - Such a cool fun experience! We didn’t have the option to get a massage. They just come over in the mud and start rubbing you. It’s a bit weird but hilarious. Then we didn’t have the option for a shower after. The women just take you by the hand and wash you off in the lagoon. Again weird but hilarious. It’s very odd at the end with all of the tipping. I wish we could have just given x amount to our tour guide and she handled handing it out. It’s awkward. But anyway, the pics are great and it was a very cool bonding experience with our group. Go private not a huge public tour!

A few helpful nuggets:... - A few helpful nuggets: -It looks smaller in person vs in pics -Tour guide was excellent and we felt well prepared -If possible I would ask for the snack before you go into the mud. There’s no running water there so it felt more sanitary to eat beforehand -We were able to leave our change of clothes in the car -We were told we would receive drone footage but I haven’t heard back on this

Must do - Gilberto was nothing short of amazing. He explained every step of the way throughly and gave us a very good history/background on the Volcano along with Cartagena. We did the 7:30 am tour and it was perfect. No crowds, we pretty much had the volcano to ourselves. Recommend 100%

Mud Volcano Experience - This was a great experience!! My husband and I really enjoyed everything about the mud volcano, the snack was good. And all the people there was very nice and helpful. Gilberto was my tour guy and he picked us up from our hotel and made sure everything went smoothly just as planned and he dropped us back off. Booking with them directly makes it easy for you so you won’t have to worry about transportation. When I come back this is something I would definitely do again!

Must do experience!!! - This is a must do when visiting Cartagena, not only is it an amazing experience but it also helps the local community. With the private tour we had the mud volcano all to ourselves before all the tour groups began arriving. Our guide Gilberto was great, explaining everything we could expect.

Strange experience. - This is not a volcano. It is a small hill that is open at the top and filled with mud that is about 10 ft x 10 ft in size. We had an early 7am pickup and arrived at the "volcano" at 8am and were the first ones there. Locals come to collect your bags and phone for photos (arrive dressed in your swim suit since there is no where close to change clothes). You climb down a ladder into the mud and there is someone there to give you a massage. We did not get a massage. It seemed creepy to me. We were alone in the mud for about 10 minutes before another couple arrived and with us and them in the mud, it felt crowded so we got out. I can't imagine being in the mud with a busload of people. When you get out you walk to the lagoon, where women wash the mud off of you with buckets of water. That also felt a little creepy. A small snack of egg empanada and water is provided. We were back at our hotel by 10am. It was an odd experience but not sure I would recommend it and I'd never do it again myself. Everyone expects a tip - the women washers, the bag and photo holder, and massage man in the mud. Bring a towel since one isn't provided. The drive is about an hour from the walled city. Go early to beat the crowds.
