Wonderful anyone can dance small 8 person dance class on a residential roof with a positive, fun staff - Anybody can dance positive group of 8 dance class on the small rooftop of a residence in Getsamani. Highlights: - 3 styles of dance: salsa, merengue, and champeta. They were all very different so it was a nice variety. - Jeff: our dance teacher was excellent. He was energetic, explained things clearly, and spoke mostly English. He broke down each of the moves and built upon the sequences. This made it so non dancers could pick it out without too much trouble and also those used to learning dance steps weren't bored. - Gorge: our translator who filled in for Jeff when he had more complex things to explain and when he gave a small speech at the end. He also could dance and chatted with us before the class began. He was self-taught yet spoke English very well. - Good exercise but not too strenuous - Partnering: the first 2 dances were with partners but the last was solo. The teacher and translator filled in for 2 single ladies. - Videos: they recorded each of dances after we learned them. Thought they'd just park the camera in one place but he moved around to ensure he got everyone and made it more visually interesting. - Drinks: upon arrival they offered us either a cold can of beer, bottle of water, or red wine. Before filming 2 of the dances we also got a shot of rum. - Breaks: after each dance series had a bit of a break which was nice to take a breather. - Lingo lesson: George taught us a few Cartagena sayings that were printed on the door to the rooftop. - Surface: like an Astro turf grass which felt fine to dance on without shoes. Midlights: - Very steep and thin stairs in a residential house up to the roof, so not everyone may be able to get up there easily. - Timing: listing said 2 hours but it lasted 2.5 -- good to know if planning dinner reservations. - Sunset: was in the title of the listing for the class, but could see just a little of the sunset and the focus was on dancing anyways ;-) Lowlights: - Place was hard to find. Glad they had said they were across from the Rebellion restaurant, but it was on a corner so weren't sure which side. Also addressees are hard to discern. Only when a man found out did we get to the right place. Look for the address on the sidewalk and the blue sign for dance, painting, and cooking lessons to the right of the door. Would recommend this class for anyone to learn different style and more about the culture through dance.

Highlight of my trip! - This is a must do when you visit Cartagena! I was alone but don't let that hold you back. Got to dance with the instructor, yay! This experience was the highlight of my trip! They make you feel at ease and the energy was on fire! It doesn't matter if you're just a beginner or you know the steps, you will have a great time! And all that on a rooftop 😍 Definitely recommend!!

Amazing !!!! 10/10 - This experience was amazing. The team was so respectful of everyone being a beginner and made us all feel so comfortable with dancing. The group was 6 people and it felt like being at a party with family. We would come back and dance with Jeff again & again!!

Great experience - It was a really great experience, learnt 3 dances, enjoy some rhum (and some beers, but don’t worry they also have water to survive the hot weather!), and the teachers were really nice, patient, and funny! Would recommend 100%

Great dance class - highly recommend! - This was so much fun, and the hosts and instructors were excellent. Learned salsa, bachata, and champeta - and feel confident enough to go dancing! The instructors were patient, engaging, and informative! I appreciated the pace of the class and the extras - the cultural discussion and slang introductions. This was a great way to spend an evening. Highly recommend.

Such a fun time would recommend! - This was such a fun class with Jorge and Jeff! They were such friendly instructor/translators. We loved learning some moves despite being very inexperienced and uncoordinated dancers. Would recommend this being an experience you have on your visit to Cartagena :)
