Great full day trip - “Giuseppe was an amazing guide” - you can find a great number of other reviews that start with a very similar statement. Prior to booking this trip, I was actually a bit skeptical to see so many similarly worded reviews submitted by lots of people with only a single contribution - it almost felt like written by a bot or something… however, having done this trip myself, I gotta say that Giuseppe is indeed really good at his job - a very attentive, friendly and passionate tour guide who always finds time to talk to each and every client. As for the trip itself, it was well organized as all the activities took place as per the original schedule. The lunch included in the package was pretty basic but did the job (at the end if the day, you don't attend for the culinary experience). The snorkeling was fun (just make sure to request the snorkel asap as most folks get the goggles only - tour description actually mentions goggles only so the fact that Giuseppe had a few extra ones was a nice surprise). I loved the fact that we stopped by to see (and touch) the sunken plane that supposedly once belonged to Pablo Escobar. Same as with most other boat tours in Cartagena, you spend most of the day (approx 90 minutes) at Cholon which is a super busy and overcrowded “party” place with loud music and extremely overpriced drinks. Imo, checking this place out for 15-30 min for a couple of quick photos/videos would be more than enough for most people (instead the group could spend more time snorkeling or at Playa Blanca or some other more relaxed place). On the other hand, if you’re looking for more of a party experience, you gonna have a great time here. Overall, this tour was fun, it was well organized and again, the tour guide did an absolutely great job.

Take it or leave it - Overall the reviews here are accurate, the tour was fine at best and nothing particularly memorable, and it's certainly not the most polished experience. They also provide no drinks aside from a juice at lunch, so make sure to bring water and beers so you avoid the overpriced drinks on the islands. Here's a breakdown of the stops (with my rating of each) since the itinerary in the description isn't very accurate: 1. Started off at the meeting point at 8:00 am but didn't leave until 8:30. You meet at Restaurante Donjuan next to the clock tower, but it has cheap breakfast so worth getting there early. There was then a ~30 min bus ride down to where the boat launches, so the boat actually departs sometime between 9:00 and 9:30 am. 2. Fuerte de San Fernando de Bocachica: This was just a drive-by on the boat about 15 minutes in, where a brief history of the islands is discussed in front of some historic fortresses. 3. Snorkeling: (3 out of 5) This was about 15 minutes past the first stop. The snorkeling was fairly lackluster. There were a good amount of colorful tropical fish that we saw, but there's essentially no coral that grows there. The water is pretty murky after it rains (so, often) so that makes it hard to see the bottom aside from next to the shore where it's standing depth. The tour also only provided goggles... no actual snorkel mouthpiece, so it's not really real snorkeling. I would recommend brining water shoes for the rough ground and maybe even your own snorkel. This lasted about 45 min. 4. Isla Grande: (4 out of 5) Another 15 min drive away, you "snorkel" outside Pablo Escobar's former island villa where there's a plane crashed under the water. It's about 20 feet under water, so pretty hard to get that deep and see much, but you can see a fin of the plane at least without having to dive too deep. Next door is Kokomo, a resort where you spend an hour for pool time and lunch. The small pool was nice and the fish was not bad. Overall the best part of the trip. 5. Cholón: (1 out of 5) Another ~20 min ride away is the party island. Honestly, the place is a dump. It's super rowdy, overpriced, the water quality is suspicious at best, and you will not want to eat any food after seeing where it's prepared. It's really not great vibes. Would recommend a tour that skips this island tbh. 6. Beaches (not sure on the name): (3 of 5) Another 20 min ride away is the last stop, where you hang out at beaches for an hour. The beaches appear really nice, but as soon as you get in the water it's filled with tons of rocks. It's scenic but like all beaches in Cartagena the vendors are fairly relentless selling bracelets, massages, beers, etc.. They gave the option to stay at this last stop for an extra four hours to see the bioluminescent plankton at night, but honestly that was way too much time in that area so no one took them up on the offer. Also seemed a little sketch to have the tour boat leave you there until nightfall with only the promise you'll be picked up again. All in all, for this tour, I'd honestly say you could take it or leave it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but I'm not sure any other tours would be better or different, so if you want some island time just bring cold drinks, sunscreen and a snorkel and you'll be set.
