Rabat to Fes Via Volubilis and Meknes.
Volubilis - After breakfast at the hotel and exploring Rabat, travel to Fes via Meknes and Volubilis. In Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco, see the impressive Bab Mansour gate built by Sultan My Ismail, the granary, and the Sahrij Souani used for irrigation and plantation. In Volubilis, a well-preserved Roman site dating back to 225 BC, admire the mosaics in excellent condition before continuing to Fes through the countryside and the foothills of the Rif Mountains. Overnight stay at Riad Fes, Hotel Saharai, or Palais Faraj.
Exploring Fes
Fes - After breakfast at your riad, embark on a journey through the cultural capital of Morocco, exploring its alleys and narrow streets. Begin with the Royal Palace, the Jewish quarter, and the first Mellah ever built in Morocco. Visit sites of cultural and historical significance, including the renowned Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region, and the Tanneries. After lunch, visit the ceramic factory and enjoy a panoramic view over the entire Medina of Fes. In the afternoon, visit the new city for a drink. Overnight stay at the same riad as the first night, with bed and breakfast.
Fes to Merzouga Via Ifrane- Azrou- Midelt and Ziz Valley.
Ifrane - After breakfast at your riad, depart Fes for Ifrane, known as “the Switzerland of Morocco,” and continue to Merzouga via Azrou and the Ziz Valley. Experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stop at Azrou, a Berber village in the famous cedar forest—the largest in Morocco—where you might spot Barbary apes. Notice the changing scenery as you approach the city of Errachidia. Continue to Merzouga via the Tizi Ntalghamt pass and along the lush Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views. Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon and enjoy a welcome glass of mint tea before checking into the riad.
Merzouga Activities.
Merzouga - After breakfast at the riad, explore the area. Visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Nearby, visit the lake of Merzouga, home to various bird species. You may also visit the nomad wire house, where many Berber handicrafts are available at lower prices than in big cities. In the afternoon, ride a camel, guided by an experienced camel handler, to explore the sand sea of Merzouga, or opt for a 4x4 ride. Enjoy a stunning sunset over the golden dunes and spend the night at a luxury desert camp equipped with flush toilets.
Erg Chebbi- Merzouga- Todra Gorges- Dades Valley- Skoura
Todra Gorges - If desired, wake up early to witness what might be the most beautiful sunrise of your life. Then, enjoy a peaceful camel trek back to the village of Merzouga. Along the way, appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which change with the light throughout the day. After breakfast at the riad, depart for Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra Gorges—the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. After lunch in the heart of the gorge, drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes.” Continue through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M’gouna and Marrakech. The route through Dades Valley is known as the “way of the thousand kasbahs,” offering numerous opportunities for stunning photographs. Stop at Kalaa Mgouna, “the rose city,” to purchase rosewater, which will keep your linens smelling fresh long after your trip. Arrive in Skoura in the late afternoon for an overnight stay in a Kasbah hotel.
Skoura- Ouarzazate- Ait Benhaddou
Ait Ben Haddou - After breakfast in the Kasbah, begin your journey by visiting the 17th-century Kasbahs still standing in this oasis, a great symbol of the region, including the famous Kasbah of Amredil. Continue through Skoura and the Birds Valley; visit the Kasbah Ameridil, a well-preserved kasbah in the area. After some hiking in the valley, stop for lunch at a restaurant overlooking the entire valley. Proceed to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa,” known for its geography and beautiful landscapes that have attracted many world-class movie producers. You may choose to visit the studios, which contain props used in films such as The Mummy, Gladiator, and The Last Temptation of Christ. Overnight accommodation will be in a local riad, Riad Ksar Ighnda, with dinner, bed, and breakfast.
Ait Benhaddou- High Atlas Mountains-Marrakech
High Atlas Mountains - After breakfast at your riad, travel to Marrakech via the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and the Tizi Ntichka Pass over the High Atlas Mountains. Your first stop will be at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, built by Et Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains in the 18th century, now home to many Glaoui people. Continue your journey through the majestic Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains before arriving in Marrakech. Stay overnight.
Exploring Marrakech
Marrakech - After breakfast at the riad, begin exploring Marrakech, “the red city of Morocco.” Your guide will ensure you visit the most important historical and cultural sites, including the Saadian Tombs, the Palaces of El Bahia and El Badi, and the Ben Youssef Coranique School. Enjoy lunch at a restaurant near the square, then visit the Majorelle Gardens, Menara, and the Koutoubia Tower in the afternoon. After dinner, take the opportunity to stroll around the bustling Jemaa El Fna Square, filled with magicians, storytellers, snake charmers, and food vendors. Overnight accommodation will be the same as the first night.
Marrakech- Departure
Marrakech - After breakfast, travel to the airport for your departure flight. Depart from Marrakech or transfer to Casablanca Airport. The tour concludes at the airport.
