- Rock of Cashel - Perched on a striking limestone outcrop in the Golden Vale, the Rock of Cashel is renowned for its historical importance and boasts the most remarkable collection of medieval structures in Ireland. Among the notable monuments are a round tower, a high cross, a Romanesque chapel, a Gothic cathedral, an abbey, the Hall of the Vicars Choral, and a fifteenth-century Tower House.
Originally the seat of the kings of Munster, legend has it that St. Patrick himself visited to convert King Aenghus to Christianity. Brian Boru was crowned High King at Cashel in 978 and established it as his capital.
In 1101, the site was gifted to the church, and Cashel quickly became a key center of ecclesiastical power in the country.
The existing buildings are extraordinary. Cormac’s Chapel, for instance, houses the only remaining Romanesque frescoes in Ireland.
The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland’s most breathtaking and rightfully most frequented tourist destinations.
- Blarney Castle & Gardens - Constructed nearly six centuries ago by one of Ireland’s most prominent chieftains, Cormac MacCarthy, it has been drawing attention ever since. Over the past few hundred years, millions have visited Blarney, making it a global landmark and one of Ireland’s most cherished sites.
This might be due to the Blarney Stone, the legendary Stone of Eloquence, located at the top of the tower. Kiss it, and you’ll never be at a loss for words again, as you’ll gain the gift of eloquence.
