Castelgandolfo is such a lovely... -
Castelgandolfo is such a lovely scenic town which overlooks Lake Albano. The town has a main square which has cafes and shops and souvenirs. it is very pretty and highly recommend a visit. It's a great escape to spend some quiet time away from the flock of tourists in central Rome. Within this town is the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo where portraits of historical popes are beautifully presented, along with the amazing garments that they wore. The only disappointment was that the Barberini Gardens the natural botanical garden was closed, so don't go on a Wednesday! Sadly the driver did not inform us. You also have to remind the driver to give you your pope parchment but they were so lovely to have gone to the trouble to post it and we eventually received it. Please note that this was only for a chaperone service and nothing more. The driver was polite and it was a very comfortable mode of transport to get to the town. Overall a beautiful quiet town worth the visit.
