- Johnston Canyon - Johnston Creek begins its journey north of Castle Mountain in a glacial valley southwest of Badger Pass. The creek carves its way through a gorge known as Johnston Canyon. As it nears the Bow River, the creek flows through a vast canyon sculpted by erosion over millennia. The creek has etched through the limestone, creating dramatic canyon walls, waterfalls, tunnels, and pools.
- Castle Mountain - Castle Mountain is a prominent peak situated within Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, roughly midway between Banff and Lake Louise. Named in 1858 by James Hector for its castle-like silhouette.
- Lake Louise - Lake Louise is a stunning glacial lake located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. It is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of the Marquess of Lorne, who served as Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. The lake’s turquoise hue is due to rock flour carried into the lake by meltwater from the surrounding glaciers. Covering an area of 0.8 km², the lake drains through the 3 km long Louise Creek into the Bow River.
- Lake Louise Visitor Information Centre - The village of Lake Louise is the highest mini town, standing at an elevation of 1,661 m. Visitors can enjoy lunch, explore the shops, and visit the information center around the mini square. It’s a perfect spot to recharge before visiting the next two lakes on the tour.
- Spiral Tunnels - In 1899, a devastating avalanche destroyed the station at Rogers Pass. After dismissing several cost-effective proposals, CP Rail’s chief engineer approved a more ambitious project to permanently resolve the issue.
- Emerald Lake - Emerald Lake is a pristine freshwater lake in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada, surrounded by the majestic mountains of the President Range. The lake’s vivid green color is due to rock flour from glaciers, which reflects the blue-green spectrum of sunlight. The rock type and its concentration in the water cause the color to change from lake to lake and month to month. Take a short walk around the lake to experience the serene beauty of this unforgettable, color-rich lake.
- Natural Bridge - Natural Bridge is a remarkable rock formation that spans the Kicking Horse River west of Field, where the slower-moving waters from the Field valley flats begin their descent through a canyon to join the Amiskwi River. Formed by the erosive power of rushing water over what was once a waterfall, the Natural Bridge is a striking reminder of water’s role in shaping the landscape. Softer rock beneath the Natural Bridge’s hard limestone band eroded more quickly, widening fissures in the rock until the water flow was redirected beneath the outcrop.
