Lake Louise - Lake Louise is a glacial lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. Named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of the Marquess of Lorne, Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. The lake’s turquoise color is due to rock flour carried by meltwater from nearby glaciers. Covering 0.8 km², it drains through the 3 km long Louise Creek into the Bow River.
-
Moraine Lake - Moraine Lake is one of the most photographed viewpoints globally. With new visitation restrictions, joining our day tour ensures a visit to Moraine Lake, leaving the driving to us, and allowing you to enjoy its breathtaking beauty up close.
-
Lake Louise Visitor Information Centre - The village of Lake Louise, at an elevation of 1,661 m, is the highest mini-town. Take some free time to have lunch, browse the stores, and visit the center around the mini square. Recharge for the next two lakes on the tour.
-
Crowfoot Glacier - Named by early explorers for its three ice sections resembling a crow’s foot, the Crowfoot Glacier remains spectacular despite one “toe” having receded.
Located above Bow Lake, it offers stunning photo opportunities along the Icefields Parkway, about 34 km (21 mi) north of Lake Louise. Attached to the northeastern side of Crowfoot Mountain, the glacier’s runoff feeds into the Bow River, flowing from Banff National Park through Calgary to the Alberta prairies.
- Bow Lake - Bow Lake is one of the many lakes along the Icefields Parkway and a popular stop for visitors to Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. The Canadian Rockies are renowned for their spectacular vistas and lakes, and Bow Lake is a top recommendation for a leg-stretching stop on the Icefields Parkway.
A short walk along the lakeshore trail offers a family-friendly hike, or longer hikes around Bow Lake provide a more complete day. Don’t miss Bow Lake.
- Peyto Lake - Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park, Canadian Rockies, near the Icefields Parkway. Named after Bill Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper, the lake is situated in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak, and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft). During summer, glacial rock flour gives the lake its unique bright turquoise color. The lake is best viewed from Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefields Parkway. Fed by Peyto Creek, which drains water from Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier, Peyto Lake is the source of the Mistaya River.
- Herbert Lake - Herbert Lake offers stunning views of the lake and snow-capped mountains. A less-traveled trail with great mountain views starts at the Herbert Lake parking area. The trailhead can be hard to find, so downloading offline maps is recommended.
The well-defined trail is easy to follow once past the trailhead, with a few ups and downs. It offers multiple viewpoints of the lake and runs alongside it for most of the trail.
