The crash between the extremely cold water of the river and the incandescent lava created one of nature’s most spectacular scenarios.

Embarking on a hike along one of Mount Etna’s trails, you’ll come across remnants of age-old lava flows, alien-like scenery, dense forests, homes nestled amidst lava, awe-inspiring vistas, and safe-to-venture lava caves. Savor the flavors of the local produce during our lunch break at a mountain refugio. Following the meal, dive into the mesmerizing beauty of the Alcantara Gorges, etched thousands of years ago by a lava stream which once flowed through the Alcantara riverbed.
