Giant’s Causeway - The Giant’s Causeway is rich in myths and legends. It is set in a stunning, dynamic coastal landscape featuring Atlantic waves, rugged cliffs, intriguing geological history, secluded bays, and breathtaking views. It forms a jagged headland of neatly packed columns pointing towards Scotland. Visitors can stroll along the basalt columns at the sea’s edge, just over 1km from the site’s entrance.
Dunluce Castle - One of the most picturesque and romantic structures on the island of Ireland. As you travel along the rugged coastline of County Antrim, you’ll encounter a magnificent medieval structure perched high. Although Dunluce Castle is now a ruin, its walls have witnessed a feud filled with romance, betrayal, and tragedy between the McQuillan and MacDonnell clans. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or an adventure lover, you’re in for a treat.
The Dark Hedges - This stunning avenue of beech trees was planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century. It was designed as an impressive landscape feature to awe visitors as they approached the entrance to their Georgian mansion, Gracehill House. Two centuries later, the trees remain a magnificent sight and have become one of the most photographed natural wonders in Northern Ireland.
The iconic beech trees have been used as a filming location in HBO’s epic series Game of Thrones®, representing the Kingsroad. Featured Scene: Season 2, Episode 1:
Bushmills Distillery - Stop off for a tasting at The Old Bushmills Distillery, an alcohol distillery in Bushmills, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, founded in 1784 and owned by Proximo Spirits. Bushmills Distillery uses water drawn from Saint Columb’s Rill, a tributary of the River Bush.
Belfast
City Hall - The City Hall App offers self-guided tours of the stained glass window collection, the monuments and memorials in City Hall grounds, artworks, and artefacts.
You can also download a copy of the multi-language audio content for £1.99, which adds additional information and interviews from the people of Belfast to enhance your self-guided tour. Please note the audio tour is not a translation of the exhibition displays.
You can also visit the Titanic Memorial Garden and several monuments and memorials in the grounds.
Peace Wall - It’s been 20 years since the troubles officially ended in Belfast, but the divisions in the capital of Northern Ireland are still evident, as you’ll soon realize if you visit the Peace Wall yourself. This is what peace looks like in Northern Ireland – communities separated by a wall up to six metres high; gates along its length that are still locked at night; and artwork painted on either side that speaks of harmony but with messages of revenge or oppression.
The streets may be quiet these days, the sounds of gunshots or bombs silenced, but the streets are still divided. Physically, at least.
Belfast Murals - Take a drive around Belfast and view the political murals painted on the walls.
