Do Not Hesitate to Book - We were excited to schedule a tour from the border at Belize to Tikal. Elmer and Fidias met us exactly on time and took us on a private tour of Tikal that we will never forget. The transportation was first class and Elmer’s kindness and knowledge of Mayan history is unbelievable. He also speaks very good English.
The trip from the border is approximately 2 hours each way and the time was filled with interesting sights and information. Lunch on the return trip was delicious.
Do not hesitate to book a tour with Elmer and Fidious. The trip was perfect and exactly what we were hoping for.

Fabulous day trip to Tikal from Belize border - This experience blew my mind. Elmer is an awesome guide who knows the history as well as the plants and animals indigenous to the area. He helped us cross the border with speed and ease, the van ride was super comfortable and he is a super friendly person. Highly recommend!!

Excellent tour tailored to our interests, needs and time constraints - If you are considering touring Tikal, my wife and I highly recommend hiring Tikal VIP Tours. Elmer, a native of the area, led our tour. Elmer is an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of the site and surrounding area is extraordinary. We also appreciated that he tailored our tour to meet our specific interests, needs and time constraints.
If you’re traveling to Tikal from Belize, I’d highly recommend doing what we did with Elmer— get a shuttle from your hotel to the border where Elmer can pick you up. This is what we did and it was seamless.
Looking forward to our next trip to Guatemala and tour with Elmer.

Incredible Tour of Tikal with Elmer - Elmer is a wonderful tour guide.
He was waiting for us at the border with a very clean van, and then he took us on a fun, very informative tour of Tikal.
He is so considerate and accommodating that you will feel like you are touring with a good friend.
I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Tikal Tour From Belize Border Crossing - This felt more than just a tour. It felt like a friend showing me some cool stuff. Elmer knew everything about Tikal and helped me take some sweet pictures. Being a solo backpacker, Elmer made the experience great and I cannot stress enough that he will take care of you! He even took me to a traditional Guatemalan restaurant after the Tikal tour, which I highly recommend. (Order the chicken soup!)
Also, don't worry about the border corssing. Just have your passport to get across, and your covid documents and health insurance to return to Belize.

A great day at Tikal - Elmer did a great job and I highly recommend him. Very approachable and friendly, English is good, just a great guy to spend the day with. Communication via email or Whatsapp was very responsive.
Elmer knows the subject very well, as well as his country of Guatemala, and he seems to enjoy sharing that knowledge with visitors. You will be amazed at the endless facts and figures he has stored in his head.
If you have any interest in Mayan history and culture, Tikal is the best place to experience it. Enormous site, and excavated to a greater degree than most Mayan sites. Be prepared for lots of walking and climbing stairs. Lunch happened quite late for us so I would take a snack, though there are a couple of vendors in the park with limited snacks.
If you have a car in Belize and can get yourself to the border, don't hesitate to use Elmer. The process of getting across the border and back is easy.

Best Yaxhà /Tikal tour guide, super competent, cultivated and fun! - We are a family with 3 small children - twins 7,7 and a 10year old and had Elmer as our Yaxhà full day tour guide. Elmer immediately connected with all of us, finding ways to instantly bring the history to life, already in the car on the way to the site. He is clearly not only very knowledgeable and passionate about the history, but he also is brilliant in connecting it to today, as well as explain it in such a lively way that the children were instantly hooked, as well as the adults. He also made great bridges to Tikal which we visited the following days and which turned out to be really helpful. Besides his excellence in competence, he is also simply a very dynamic and fun person to hang out with - the day just flew by in his company. We highly recommend Elmer - after 6 months of travelling around the world, and doing many many tours in fabulous places, he is definitely one of the best guides we were lucky to have. Thank you, Elmer, for nourishing all our minds!
