The Temple of Leah was commissioned by Teodorico Soriano Adarna and dedicated to the memory of his late wife, Leah Albino-Adarna. They were happily married for more than 50 years. Ellen Adarna, a popular actress in the Philippines, had the legendary Teodorico and Leah as grandparents.

The construction of the Temple of Leah in Barangay Busay began in 2012. The building has roughly twenty-four rooms, some of which serve as libraries, art galleries, bars, and museums. Along the way, you’ll come across many statues depicting lions, angels, and gladiators. A statue of Leah, standing at ten feet tall, is located in the foyer, accessible via stone steps that lead to the portico.

Visitors can see hyacinths and sunflowers in various areas.

From the time of Spain’s colonial domination until the recent beatification of Pedro Calungsod, the Cebuano martyr, the monument depicts events that are significant to the history of the country.

The area in which the Heritage of Cebu Monument is located is equally significant to the city’s past. During the Spanish colonial era, Parian District was home to a number of prominent and wealthy Cebuano families. “Parian” comes from the phrase “pari-pari,” which means to barter or trade.

The indigenous, the Chinese, and the Spanish mestizos who settled there are all supposed to have traded freely with one another in the past. It was also a popular venue for lavish celebrations attended by prosperous Chinese merchants.

The site of the monument is also the site of the first St. John the Baptist Church, which was destroyed in 1875 by order of the diocese of Cebu.

  • Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino de Cebu - The Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu, also known as Santo Niño Basilica, is a basilica in Cebu City, Philippines, founded in 1565 by Fray Andrés de Urdaneta and Fray Diego de Herrera. It is the country’s oldest Roman Catholic church, allegedly built on the site where the image of the Santo Niño de Cebu was discovered during Miguel López de Legazpi’s expedition.

This image of the Child Jesus was presented by Ferdinand Magellan to Rajah Humabon’s chief consort on the occasion of their royal Baptism to Roman Catholicism on April 14, 1521. After Legazpi razed a nearby village, a soldier named Juan de Camuz discovered the image forty years later, preserved in a wooden box. When Pope Paul VI made the church a basilica in 1965, he declared it to be “the symbol of the birth and growth of Christianity in the Philippines.

The present building was completed from 1739-1740, and was designated by the Holy See as the “Mother and Head of all Churches in the Philippines”.

I know it's a novel - but it needed to be said...Blu Range "blew" us away!!! - Booking a tour with a local provider on the other side of the world often feals like a leap of faith...BUT from the moment I made contact with Blu Range owner Hannah (she is simply amazing) I was in good hands. From start to finish, as we finalized the custom details of a 4 day and 3 night itinerary I felt supported and reassured both overseas in Canada and in the Philippines. Hannah and her fabulous Team took such great care of us. I told her that we felt like family and it's evident throughout - she wants to ensure you enjoy your stay and that all booked experiences from the first moment you interact with her extended team are living up to your expectation. She ensures that her Team guides you to all the designated locations and are accountable each and every step of the way. Her thoughtfulness and attention to detail really shines. On our final day in Cebu - she noticed it was my birthday and as a touching surprise she coordinated the purchase of a small birthday cake at Carbon Market, wrote both of us a personalized note and provided a symbolic souvenir gift as a send-off - what a beautiful touch!! Heartfelt THANK YOUs to Hannah's extended team - we are extrememly grateful. Cyrus, your personal story-telling and knowledge about Cebu made the drives very educational and entertaining, and for getting us everywhere we needed to be on time. Oliver, your superb driving skills and extreme patience made sure that despite mother nature's rainy morning forecast we were able to appreciate Oslob and Moalbal to the fullest. Jorge for maintaining a good pace while giving us as much time as we needed at each site on a full itinerary in Bohol - also your photography skills are on point!! Leye for being so warm and personal with your experiences - the food tour in Cebu city came alive; we ate so well, were stuffed and savoured the uniqueness and richness of the cuisine. One gets a real sense that Hannah's Team also feels equally respectful of her - it's highly encouraging! Don't hesitate booking your experience Blu Range Tours, you certainly won't be disappointed - Hannah, we can't thank YOU enough for making our time in the Visayas EXTRA special and SO very memorable.
