Excellent tour with tons of information - I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about the African history and influence in Brazil. This history is so important to learn and our guide Nathalia was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history, from year 1500 to present day! Be prepared to walk and to learn A LOT! This was the most informative tour during our trip. You will learn about the African slave trade and the struggles and influences brought to Brazil. It shapes the Brazil (and Rio) we know today.

A Highlight - That was a great tour. Caroline really knows her history. Tour sites were very interesting. The museums were powerful. We were both quite emotional after it was done. The tour was the surprise of our great ten day trip to Rio!

Larissa was amazing! - My husband and I had an unforgettable experience on the Little Africa tour in Rio! Our guide, Larissa, was absolutely amazing. She was incredibly detailed and knowledgeable, giving us an understanding of Afro-Brazilian history and culture. You could really feel her passion for sharing the rich heritage of Afro Brazil, and she brought the stories to life in such an engaging way. We left with a greater appreciation for the people and history of this vibrant community. Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn and be inspired!

An absolute must do tour!! - The walking tour of Little Africa in Rio de Janeiro was an unforgettable, immersive experience. Led by a Black woman Damiana Silva- From Florencios with over 30 years of guiding expertise, the tour offered deep insights into the area's rich Afro-Brazilian history and culture. Key stops included Praça Mauá and Pedra do Sal, with captivating stories about the local community’s resilience and contributions. The guide’s passion and local connections made each stop feel personal and engaging, with opportunities to meet residents and try traditional foods. This tour is perfect for anyone looking to explore a unique and culturally rich side of Rio. My wife and I also went on an all day tour the day prior, which did not include any of this rich and crucial history of Brazil. 5 stars!

Okay tour, but not for the price - This tour was satisfactory, but I do not believe it justifies the $99 price tag; anything exceeding $50 seems excessive. The guide exhibited a strong passion for the culture, to the extent that she hesitated to allow me to take a photo, expressing her discontent with the exhibit. It has been noted that the government has not allocated sufficient funds to maintain the city's appearance, which contributes to a sense of insecurity. Nevertheless, I am pleased to have experienced what I did, and I will conduct further research on my own. Given the cost, I cannot recommend this tour. It would be more beneficial to use an Uber to navigate the city independently and review the information provided on-site, ideally during daylight hours.

Poor Communication from Florencios Tours - Our tour guide Ana was EXCELLENT!!! She is very professional, personable and knowledgeable about the history of Little Africa and life in Brazil for people of color. We were extremely impressed with the tour. The 1 star rating is due to extremely poor communication from the tour company. There was a major event with an appearance from the president of Brazil in the vicinity of the meeting location with thousands of people attending this event. The meeting location should have been changed well before the meeting time and we should have been notified of the change. It was changed sometime after the meeting time and it took more than 30 minutes (in the rain) for us to connect with our tour guide. After arriving to the changed location and not seeing our guide, several messages to Florencios Tours went unanswered. An attempt to contact me was made through WhatsApp, however I do not have that app. The tour company could have contacted me by phone, text or email but didn’t. I was ready to contact Viatour for a refund after 30 minutes of waiting in the rain to connect with our tour guide. Once we connected, Ana did an excellent job. I would NEVER book another tour with Florencios Tours. I would DEFINITELY enjoy another tour with Ana!!
