Street Art Defined - The Rio Street tour, created by its guide Wellington, was a great experience to see another side of Rio that’s less traveled. The tour guide walked me through the significance of the Cinelândia, Cento and Porto Maravilha areas as we viewed the street art. The murals we saw in Porto Maravilha were explained in detail about their messages. The history of this port area and its connection to enslaved Africans were also discussed. The tour’s route goes near Little Africa, the futuristic Museu do Amanhã (Museum of Tomorrow) and Museu de Arte do Rio. The tour accommodates groups as little as one person (me!). I really appreciate the tour guide purchasing my ticket for the train we had to take, thereby avoiding a potential fine. If it’s open, do ask about walking the grounds of Cidade do Samba near the train’s stop before the street art tour really gets going.

Learn Rio through art - Wellington, our guide, provided us with an informative and enjoyable tour experience! He shared the rich history behind the art and a lot Rio history. Throughout the tour he sprinkled in stories based on his experience as a native. In addition to the art, we had an opportunity to tour the Carnival float staging and storage area. The tour is along an easy walking route but you may want to bring along a bottle of water. I highly recommend the tour!

Explore Rio with an Old Friend - Let me start by saying I didn't know ow what to expect. But Wellington shattered all expectations. His knowledge of Rio is amazing. What sets his tours apart is his personal touch; it feels like you're exploring the city with an old friend. If you want a first class cultural experience, book Wellington. 10/10.

Art. Art. Everywhere. - It’s one thing to go to a foreign country and explore the traditional tourist destinations, museums, and landmarks and another to explore the true nature of creativity by local artists. You can not colonize the voice of the street artist and it is really important and beautiful to see and hear the real community of this place speak to us through paint on walls. The flavor of Rio is so prevalent on this tour. Wellington is a wealth of knowledge about the history and contemporary voice of his country people. We felt safe. We felt comfortable. We walked. We sweat. Wear sunscreen. The public transpo was a treat! Wellington is a beautiful person here to share his pride with us. Enjoy him! Ask questions. Fill your souls with color and creativity. I would do this tour 100 more times.

Great Tour! - This was SUCH a fun tour! Wellington was a wonderful guide, especially for a family not familiar with the area. He showed us lots of art, told us the stories/meanings behind the works, and tons and tons of history and current events about the city. 100% would recommend!

Little Africa - This tour was the most educational tour we experienced and I’m SO happy with the flow and insight, details and education on “Little Africa”. My friends and I originally reserved the “Street Art Tour” then asked Wellington if he could give us a tour of “Little Africa” instead. Without hesitation, he provided a great tour that brought ideas and history of slavery in Brazil full circle. Thank you for such an amazing, thorough history lesson Wellington!
