• Museu de Arte do Rio - MAR - This is the group’s meeting point. The museum terrace offers a panoramic view of Praça Mauá and Guanabara Bay. Note that the museum is closed on Mondays.
• Maua Square - Praça Mauá marks the start of Avenida Rio Branco and the Port Region. Since 1910, with the opening of Porto do Rio, it has become a key location for welcoming ships and tourists. Important buildings around the square include the Rio Art Museum (MAR), the Museum of Tomorrow, and the Night building, the city’s first skyscraper, built in 1930.
• Orla Prefeito Luiz Paulo Conde - During the VLT (Tram) ride from Praça Mauá to Cidade do Samba, one can see the old docks and the street art gallery on Orla Conde / Olympic Boulevard.
• Etnias - Mural de Graffiti (Estúdio Kobra) - One of the largest graffiti panels in the world, according to the Guinness World Record, is a new tourist attraction in Rio de Janeiro. Inspired by the Olympic rings representing the five continents, it is named “Ethnic Groups” and is signed by Eduardo Kobra.
• Cidade Do Samba - The Carnival Experience, promoted by Grande Rio Samba School, offers visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the creation and production of the parade long before it takes place at Marquês de Sapucaí Sambadrome. This unique experience showcases the production of allegories and costumes, the design process, and the craftsmanship involved in assembling the grand floats, highlighting the hard work of the professionals involved.
• Pedra do Sal - Located at Conceição Hill, Pedra do Sal is part of the region historically known as Little Africa, which extended from Praça Mauá to Cidade Nova. It is the birthplace of urban carioca samba, evolving from rural samba played with hands, tambourines, plates, and knives, and danced with tap dancing, sieved, and “umbigadas.”
