Highlights
  • St. Peter of Cetinje - Cetinje Monastery - Holy keeper of relics

We start with an hour’s drive and reach Cetinje. The first thing we will visit is the Cetinje Monastery. The Cetinje monastery was built in the 15th century, in the state of Zeta, on the territory of the capital of Montenegro - Cetinje. The monastery is very important because it represents the epicenter of culture, literacy, and education in Montenegro. It was demolished and reconstructed several times, and after one invasion by Suleiman Pasha, no one was able to restore its beauty. The Cetinje monastery is also extremely important due to the fact that Christian treasures are kept in its modest chambers. Segments of the Holy Cross, the hand of John the Baptist, and the relics of Saint Peter of Cetinje are preserved in the monastery, making it one of the most spiritually rich guardians of the Christian world. Words are superfluous, so go along the Cetinje Monastery and pay your respects to the greatest Christian relics.

  • Dajbabe Monastery - After a 40-minute drive, we reach the Dajbaba Monastery. Under the Dajbaba hill, not far from the capital of Montenegro - Podgorica, is the Dajbaba monastery. This monastery was built in 1897 on the basis of a miraculous vision of shepherd Petka, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The fact is that the monastery itself is carved into the rock. At its foot, the Dajbabe monastery has an inscribed church in the shape of a cross. The entrance porch with bell towers is the only part of the monastery that is outside the rock of the actual cave. The relics of Saint Simeon of Dajbap are preserved inside the monastery. The monastery is special for the harmony between man and nature. On this occasion, man understood the message and did not destroy nature, but adopted it.
  • Ostrog Monastery - After an hour’s drive from Manaastir Dajbab, we reach the famous Monastery. For the end, we leave the most visited and famous monastery in Montenegro. It is dedicated to Saint Vasilij Ostroška, who lived in the 17th century, and whose relics are still here today. It is believed that his holy body was found intact, seven years after his death. It is carved into a steep rock, at an incredible 900 meters above sea level. The monastery is known for the miracles that still take place today, and it has become one of the most visited places of pilgrimage that gathers believers from all over the world, regardless of religion. We must emphasize that the Ostrog monastery is also known for its healing powers and the spiritual changes it awakens in a person. Visit this miracle-working monastery, see for yourself that miracles are still possible, and find your peace
  • Bogetici - We are going to Koliba restaurant for lunch. There you will have the opportunity to try traditional dishes of Montenegro. On the way back, we will take a photo break with a view of the sea. The drive back will take 2 hours

Additional Information

On this excursion, we will visit Montenegrin monasteries. Their architecture, as well as the external and internal appearance, are certainly distinguished by the beauty and uniqueness of the decorations. However, it is not all about that timeless beauty that defies the centuries and the adversities it encounters, but there is also something in the very silence that arises, lasts and disappears. among the holy walls. Montenegro has about 50 holy Christian buildings on its land, some monasteries, and some churches, and over time that small area of land acquires a deeper meaning and importance. The largest number of churches and monasteries belong to the Serbian Orthodox Church, while a part also belongs to the Catholic Christian Church. Cathedrals are mostly located in coastal cities precisely because of the historical events and governments that changed the Adriatic.
