A wonderful sanctuary - The sanctuary is wonderful. The pacing and how time is spent is lovely and relaxed. You get plenty of time with the elephants, getting right up close for cuddles! The mud bath experience is hilarious and the staff are so kind. Lunch is good, the shower facilities are basic but do the job! Just prepare for a 2 hour drive each way on winding roads and take motion sickness tablets if you suffer from car sickness

Mud bath with elephants!!! - We was picked up from our hotel, a little bit late but can't help the traffic. Very apologetic even though it wasn't their fault. We joined the group with a couple from Singapore and another family from Czech and 3 guides. About an hour and a half drive away which was fun. We finally arrived at our destination and what a lovely setting, just 3 elephants, grand mother, mother and a little 2 year old which I can't remember the name but was very naughty but funny. 1st we was introduced to them then had the pleasure of feeding them, then we took them for a walk in the hills to watch them in their own environment which was beautiful. After that we walked back down the hill to a wonderful Thai lunch, then took the elephants down to the stream to watch them have a drink. After this the fun began, we took them and ourselves for a mud bathing then back to the stream to wash them off. This was our 1st day here in Chiang Mai and what a day to start our holiday. Will never forget it, the guides were brilliant and the elephants. These guys have no government funding and rely on us tourists to keep them and what a good job they do. Would highly recommend but remember you will get dirty in the mud but worth it.

Meaningfull experience - It was an amazing experience. You can share with the elephants walking right next to them as they do their usual rutine, including giving them a mud shower in order to keep them clean of the worms.

Best stress-free time for elephants and us - This is my first visit in five years. JoJo, who was in her tummy last time because she was going to come earlier but couldn't because of COVID-19, had become a completely naughty little elephant. She is free to move around, indulging the staff in asking them to peel her bananas as a snack, or rubbing herself against a tree, imitating her mother. It's great to spend a day with elephants while walking in the mountains, bathing in the mud and playing in the river, without having to pick people up or learn the art. It's nice to see more and more tours these days aimed at spending time with elephants in nature rather than showing their art, I think we are operating here with the idea of limiting the number of people who can participate in the event each day and further reducing the burden on the elephants. Owner-guide Chanchai told us about his passion for elephants, despite the fact that he was struggling to walk despite his chronic back pain, and that he had gak (a bit old ... lol) in Japanese. Mr. T, who gave me transportation back and forth, also spoke the Japanese he knew to the best of his ability (Toyota Mazda Suzuki, Chiang Mai also has a lot of Japanese cars lol). I could feel their desire to entertain their guests. The Japanese language guide may not be available at any time due to Chanchai's physical condition, etc., but they will be able to respond to inquiries in Japanese, so if you have time on your schedule, you should consult with them. If you're going to Chiang Mai, you'll definitely want to experience the happy time with the happy elephant. Of course, I have promised to go there whenever I revisit. I look forward to that.
