10/10 - This was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. We stayed on an elephant sanctuary, spent all evening with the the elephants and woke up in the morning to see them walking past our hut and then got lots more time with them, including the mud bath and swim in the river. The guides are so much fun and really made it a great experience. The hike to Karen village is a little difficult in the heat, but our guide stopped very frequently for breaks so it’s 100% manageable for everyone. Don’t forget to bring some tissues for the toilet, but don’t flush them there are bins.

Memorable jungle experience - Our guide Witoon was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife always finding small animals/plant life to show and explain. The views were stunning and the elephant experience was something we won’t forget! The itinerary wasn’t in the same order as advertised but we did everything so wasn’t a problem! We also got to meet other groups in the camps so a very social experience too! The accommodation was basic but you’re in the jungle so totally expected. The overall organisation was good but we didn’t get a list of items to take which left us rushing to a market to get some much needed supplies. Nevertheless, this didn’t spoil what was a spectacular three days in the jungle!

In nature - The bamboo rafting was great, but short and it should take longer then 30 minutes. We would have liked to see more of the Karen Hill villagers. We missed on two walks an English speaking guide. There was one very good guide, who also cooked for us.

Organized Chaos in a Beautiful Setting - We were on this trek with a group of between 5 and 8 people over the three days, and it was a fantastic experience. Beautiful hiking, waterfalls, scenery, great experience staying in the Karen village and in a hut, and good food prepared by our guides for breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, it’s important to note a few things: - Backpacks are not provided, so pack enough in a small backpack for three days and two nights. There’s also a two day, one night option that some people in our group chose. - Bring water and snacks, but there are little villages and stands along the hiking route that sell water, beer, soda and snacks for relatively inexpensive prices (anywhere from 5 to 65 baht). - Our itinerary proved flexible, as our first and third days were swapped on the fly. We saw elephants and hiked a lot on day one, rather than doing that on day three as originally planned. Instead we hiked and bamboo rafted on the final day, which was planned for day one. Our guides knew the plan and what we were doing, and we just followed them and trusted them. We also had a different guide on each day - I’d suggest bringing a towel in case you swim in any of the waterfalls. Also bring hand sanitizer and expect minimal running water - Accommodations were basically camping in a small bamboo hut with a one inch mattress pad on the floor and a mosquito jet overhead. More comfortable than it sounds, and plenty of additional blankets and small pillows are provided.

Trekking, Elephants, and Bamboo Rafting! No Long neck Karen Tribe - We had a great time but feel like there was a lot of misinformation about the tour. Firstly, you will not see the long neck tribe on this tour. The photos are not accurate. We arrived at the Karen village and there were a few women there selling souvenirs, I asked about the long neck tribe and the guide said that they are in a different area not part of this trek. I showed him the photos from this Viator link and he said it wasn’t correct. We met another traveling family who was expecting the same thing. We also did not follow the itinerary. We ended up starting to hike on the first day at 11am and trekked all day until we arrived at the village around 5/5:30pm. We stopped many times for breaks and there were beautiful waterfalls along the way. It was a great hike but we were expecting a bamboo raft on the first day. The guides were great with kids and there were three boys between the ages 7-12 on our tour. They seemed to have a blast! If you go on this trek, bring money for drinks. Meals are included throughout but you have to buy water and drinks for each meal. Everyone else in our group was only doing a 2 day 1 night tour and after the confusing day, we decided to just do one night and head back after the elephant care (which changed to be the second day). We passed another pair on the way that had signed up for the 3 day and were switching to only doing the 2 day. We both were told we wouldn’t get reimbursed for returning a day early and it seems like a lot of people might end up switching to the 2 day. I didn’t know there was a 2 day option but seems like there was a local sign-up option for 2 days that includes all of the same things. We really enjoyed seeing elephants on the trek and the bamboo rafting was very relaxing (these were both on the second day)! I just wish we had better communication on what to expect.
