- Wat Pha Lat - Wat Pha Lat is the jungle temple of Chiang Mai and it is also the finishing point of the popular Monk’s Trail, an ancient pilgrimage route.
The songthaew (pick up truck) drops us at the starting point of the hike from where we start walking to Wat Pha Lat. This hike is along a trail that for many years has been used by monks to ascend Doi Suthep (Suthep Mountain) enroute to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple. It takes between 30 and 45 minutes to hike the monk’s trail to Wat Pha Lat.
Welcome to Wat Pha Lat, the secret jungle temple! This temple was constructed in 1355 and with its old stone buildings, intricate carvings and statues, and plenty of breathtaking places to meditate, it’s clear why people claim Wat Pha Lat is a hidden gem in Chiang Mai.

Hike to Wat Pha Lat, the hidden forest temple on Doi Suthep. This secret temple is a beautiful haven of peace, in a garden with beautiful statues.
Then visit Doi Suthep Temple, the Buddhist temple draped in gold, one of northern Thailand’s most sacred temples. Enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the mountain over the city.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS PER GROUP IS 10 PERSONS.
- Wear proper walking shoes
- Remember that temples are sacred places and visitors are required to dress appropriately. Shoulders and knees need to be covered.
- If you cannot do the hike up the mountain, you can go up with the songthaew (pick up truck)
- For the sunrise program (start 04:30 hrs in the morning) we visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep first. After sunrise we continue to Wat Pha Lat from where we start the Monk’s Trail and hike down the mountain instead of up.
- Maximum number of participants per group is 10 persons.

Highly recommend, Saman was incredibly kind and made the tour experience perfect! - Would 100% recommend this tour. It ended up just being myself and my tour guide Saman. He was so helpful, so kind, explaining and educating me, suggesting food places, and helped me capture some lovely pictures! We also met a wonderful dog at one of the temples! I really had a great day!!

Nice tour with good information - The tour is well organized. Our tour guide Malee met us in the hotel with the red car famous in Chiang Mai.
We went to our first stop, the Wat Pha Lat hike and temple visit and then to our second destination the Doi Suthep with the amazing view.
Our guide Malee shared with us a lot of information and took photos of us at every place.
We had a good time and we recommend this tour for a short half day trip

Hike to the Jungle Temple - We had an amazing experience! Our guide, Malee told us the history of the hike and temples we visited and answered all of our questions! She made sure we had a chance to fully experience the temples and helped take photos of us along the way. THANK YOU MALEE!

Such an awesome experience - Malee was an excellent guide! The hike to the jungle temple was absolutely amazing and she was so knowledgeable about all of the different locations. All around a great and surreal experience! If you don't mind breaking a bit of a sweat on the hike make sure to do this while you are visiting Chiang Mai!

Sunrise Hike - The sunrise temple tour and hike was absolutely beautiful! Our guide Saman was very friendly and knowledgeable. One thing to note is that there is a lot of downtime to walk around and learn about the temples and Buddhism.

WONDERFUL Experience, Thanks Malee!! - Malee was AMAZING! We had such an amazing experience with her. She was knowledgeable, took so many great photos and had such a positive attitude. Would recommend this to anyone but be prepared for the hike! It is steep!

super nice - Super incredible experience. The guide Samán is very friendly. We went to the temples with the typical Chiang Mai taxi. They gave me water. Samán told me many things about Thai culture and the temples of Chiang Mai. I had a good time with him. I recommend it. You prepare comfortable shoes 🤣

Tour with Mr Saman - Our guide, Mr Saman, was great and super lovely! He was sometimes a little bit hard to understand due to language but other than that told a lot about the temples and things we saw during our whole trip. He took his time with us and even made some pictures for us. Would definitely recommend. Super big thanks Mr Saman!!

Stunning temple and spiritual experience. - Malee was a fantastic guide trekking up a pretty steep hill and then all the steps to Suthep. I enjoyed her company and all the knowledge she was able to impart.
