Great cooking class! - I had a half day class with Air and made Course B - two soups and stir fried chicken. I had a great time at the class and would love to come back and take the other course as well. Air picked me up at my hotel on time and took me to a market for a tour and to buy some fresh mushrooms and herbs to use in our cooking. Then we went to his house where he has the most amazing outdoor kitchen with several cooking stations. As was common during my January 2022 trip, I attended the class solo. However, Air was willing to teach a class for one person without charging a supplement. Everything was well organized and his assistant did the all the prep work of cleaning the fresh ingredients and chopping the chili peppers. I left with a better understanding of the base ingredients in Thai food and especially the hot and sour soups. I also have a cookbook and apron to remind me of my class and channel my inner Air when I try Thai cooking at home. As a former tour guide and chef, Air had the teaching skills, history knowledge, and easily understood English to make a great class. I highly recommend.

This was probably the highlight of... -
This was probably the highlight of our 4 day Chiang Mai trip. Air is very knowledgeable and really makes the experience unique given the small class sizes. He gives everyone his undivided attention.

Fun experience - We booked the day before via TripAdvisor and my boyfriend and I were the only ones in the class. Air came and picked us up from where we were staying, and brought us to the local market. We come from California, the land of farmer's markets and a lot of Asian ingredients, so while it was interesting to learn about the prepared foods that Thais make, the market visit mostly covered ingredients we already use in our weekly cooking. I asked a lot of questions and Air answered them all. The cooking part of the class was in a beautiful outdoor kitchen not so far from the market. All of the ingredients were prepared in advance, and so the format of the class was to watch a demonstration of a dish, recreate with the prepared ingredients, and then to taste and eat it. The dishes were formatted in such a way that they could easily be recreated, not requiring a ton of experience or exotic ingredients / preparations. We did green curry, tom yom soup, and pad Thai. Part of me was hoping for some professional-chef-like schooling in this class (as I'm an experienced home cook). Since it was a private class, I thought it could be bent that way, but it's not really how it is setup. All in all, the experience was really positive.
