Join us for a morning tasting of traditional Cretan breakfast at a local shop, where four generations have been crafting exquisite Cretan delicacies. On this excursion, immerse yourself in the ambiance of authentic Cretan cuisine as you sample fresh and aromatic pastries, including the splendid Bugatsa, prepared according to the family’s traditional recipes. Taste and savor the authentic culinary experience that will bring you true pleasure and impressions of the local flavor.

• Chania Old Town - Once in the alleys of the old town, we experience the most traditional backstreet culinary spots, visit different districts, such as the Turkish, Venetian, Christian, and Jewish ones, stopping in unique hidden corners and gardens, and having interesting conversations with local artisans skilled in the arts of ceramics, leather, and crafting knives.

We will taste delicious local tapas, known as mezedes, and learn as well about the different influences that all the different civilizations that dominated the island over the centuries have had on the Cretan diet over the years.

Start your day with a local mouthwatering “bougatsa breakfast” at one of the oldest local family-run shops, passing from generation to generation. There, you’ll be tantalized by the aroma of freshly baked delicacies from wood-fired ovens, the sight of vendors skillfully crafting traditional Cretan pastries such as kalitsounia and bougatsa, served with a Greek coffee either a herbal “malotira” tea from the White Mountains!

Alerted and repleted we are more than ready to explore the talked-about Old Town of Chania. Wander through the charming alleys where history and culinary delights await. Discover hidden gems nested within the Venetian, Turkish, and Jewish quarters, and find the most authentic shops if you like to buy local products! Engage with local artisans, and masters of their crafts, as they showcase traditional pottery, leather goods, and artisanal knives.
