We are going to have a drive to Omalos plateau at an altitude of 1240m for almost an hour. From there, we will hike up to an altitude of 2080m to reach Gigilos peak and then return. The drive initially crosses the Agyia valley and then continues up into the mountains, passing through small villages and finally ending at the Omalos plateau.

We are going to have a drive to Omalos plateau at an altitude of 1240m for almost an hour. From there, we will hike up to an altitude of 2080m to reach Gigilos peak and then return. The drive initially crosses the Agyia valley and then continues up into the mountains, passing through small villages and finally ending at the Omalos plateau.
The hike begins on a steep path with views of the Samaria gorge, the peaks of the White Mountains, and the Omalos plateau. In the first part, we encounter trees like cypresses and prunus with unusual shapes, typically due to the year-round weather conditions (snow, wind, etc.). The path then goes through tall rock formations (the towers of Gigilos) that resemble towers and also passes through an arch named Xepitira.
The terrain becomes increasingly wild as the mountain formations change, marking the start of the alpine zone. About an hour into the hike, there is a spring with fresh water where you can refill your bottle. As you hike further up, the path becomes steeper until you reach a shoulder named Linoseli at an altitude of 1700m. From there, you have views of the Tripiti gorge and the Libyan Sea. Continuing with a bit more climbing, you will reach the peak, offering a gorgeous, panoramic view. The return follows the same path.
