Samaria Gorge is a National Park known for its unique flora and fauna, nestled in the heart of the mountains. It is considered the best hike in Crete and one of the finest in Europe. The park is open from May 1st to the end of October. The hike is challenging, with an uneven and rocky path, so you need to be cautious.

Samaria is a 16km (10 miles) downhill hike through forests and mountains, featuring a flowing river and organized resting spots. It’s impossible to get lost as you’ll be hiking at the bottom of the gorge surrounded by cliffs. The hike takes about 5 hours to complete and is reminiscent of a mix between the Grand Canyon and Zion.

We will depart at 7am and return at 9pm. After an hour’s drive, we will reach the entrance of the gorge where I will drop you off. The hike concludes at Agia Roumeli, a small village where you can purchase boat tickets to Sougia. I will be waiting for you at Sougia to drive you back.
