- Filikis Eterias - In this vegetarian workshop, we have the opportunity to prepare a complete traditional dinner. We will learn to cook five distinctive Cretan dishes.
Dakos: Cretan rye rusks topped with tomato, myzithra cheese, oregano, sea salt, olives, and extra virgin olive oil.
Tzatziki: Likely the most famous Greek dip, made from Greek yogurt, cucumber, and garlic, serving as a unique side dish.
Greek Salad or “Choriatiki”: A salad composed of summer vegetables like tomato, cucumber, pepper, onion, glistrida, olives, and either feta or myzithra cheese.
Gemista: Tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis, eggplants, and vine leaves stuffed with rice, parsley, peppermint, and fennel, baked in the oven and served with Greek yogurt.
Dessert: Traditional kalitsouni: Cretan cheese pies with honey.
Finally, we gather around the table to enjoy our food and drinks and share our stories.

During our workshop you will have the chance to experience first hand how to prepare a traditional cretan dinner, to visit a local’s home and to learn a lot about the Cretan tradition and hospitality. Firstly we will welcome you with fresh refreshments and local treats and make our aquaintances. Then we will prepare an oven pan full of stuffed vegetalbes and while it is roasted, we will prepare our other recipes: Greek salad, tzatziki sauce and dakos. We are going to have a snack and then make the famous Cretan “kalitsouni”, small cheese pies served with honey on top as a dessert. When everything is completed, we will enjoy our dinner with local spirit and have the chance to know each other better. In this experience you will have an eye on the actual making of a typical Cretan dinner in a local’s home with lots of fun, positive energy and enjoy Cretan hospitality.
