WW2 Crete Tour - Great tour of Crete in general and WW2 Battle events - We spent all day with George who runs Niriis Tours. George picked up at the cruise ship port and delivered us back on time. We toured the island and had a great lunch in the country side in addition to a very detailed WW2 tour. George took us to a private museum with lots of items from the battle that has been recovered on Crete as well as the cemetery where the allied casualties are buried. The tour also included a trip to the airport that was the focus of the German paratrooper attack. George is an expert on all of the history and the island, great resource.

Brings the battle to life! - I had previously read up on the battle but walking the ground made it all make much more sense. Yanis the guide and the collector were both very informative and passionate about the subject. An incredible story.

A Great Experience - We had booked a half day Battlefield Tour for 20th September, the pre tour arrangements were conducted seamlessly and our guide Babis duly arrived.
Babis was the perfect tour guide, his knowledge was most impressive and he was instructive, patient and extremely personable throughout.
It was a most enjoyable experience.

Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in WWII and allied engagement - Small group made it friendly and intimate and allowed plenty of time for questions and photos. The air conditioned private car with water and lunch was a real bonus on a very hot day. There was a lot of information about the battles and sites which really brought them to life. A really interesting tour and great guide.

Historical knowledge is the key. - We were going to be late( roadworks), rang them, they swapped pickup point.. no problem at all. Our guide Babis, was fantastic, his knowledge, maps, battle plans etc, were first class.. he bought it all to life , especially for me as my Grandfather had been there during the war. The visit to the collector with all his relics was pretty amazing. Recommended.

Amazing experience - A truly amazing and interesting experience about the WWII-history of Crete. Our guide Yannis was brilliant and knowledgable. Together with Yannis we had an incredible day visiting many different places where events took place during the invasion of Crete. We got the opportunity to see both cemeteries, bunkers and museums. All together with Yannis vivid storytelling about the events, we got a very deep understanding about the history and resistance of the Cretan people. Excellently planned day with a comfortable vehicle and a stop for a complimentary sandwiches and drinks included. Could not have been more satisfied with the day. Thank you!

Battle for Crete - Battle of Crete
Small group in a comfy aircon Touran.
Yannis our guide was incredibly knowledgable and easy going, making everyone feel relaxed at the beginning before going into more detail about the history we were there to learn more about. I not only learnt so much about the Battle of Crete but also about the modern history of Crete itself.
We visited a bridge, airfield and hill to the west of Chania. At the hill, and after exploring a British built bunker, Yannis took us through folders of maps, setting the scene to the Battle before going into detail about the key people involved and some of their stories. We then moved onto the German cemetery, visited a local historian who’s collected thousands of artefacts from the Battle and occupation, before stopping at the 42nd Street Memorial and the Allied Cemetery in Souda Bay.
It was a lot of information to process, but as someone who’s grandfather fought in the Battle it was incredibly interesting, moving, and thought provoking.
I cannot thank Yannis enough for conveying brilliantly the Battle and occupation. A day I’ll always remember.
