Highlight of our trip!! - Wow!! This is something all visitors to Charleston should do. This guy is the BEST cook! The best storyteller! If you enjoy the history of our country, AND the history of all kinds of food, this is highly recommended!! He should open a restaurant!

History and food; great combo for a tour! - Mike was a wealth of knowledge teaching us about Charleston food, city and plantation life, along with general history from the 17th - 20th century. We got to have a private 30 minute tour of the museum at the Charleston Historical Society after arriving and before sitting down for dinner at 6:30 in a beautifully dining room with accurately depicting a tabletop seating for 14. The menu changes periodically and is based on local recipes. We were fed soup, 3 main dishes and 2 sides along with 3 desserts. And….you get to take home the left overs if you are local. During the evening, you are transported back to the 18th and 19th centuries and how they entertained and ate family style. Great experience that you should not miss! Don’t forget to take your own bottle of wine to enjoy with your own small group. We were served a glass of Madeira, but no other liquor. What a wonderful evening!!!

Great experience with scrumptious food. - The dinner was excellent with a nice variety of dishes served. Mike's enthusiasm for both culinary and local history shines through as he shared stories of founding families, contributing cultural influences, and how the dishes developed, were seasoned, and cooked. We enjoyed the evening and every dish served. Highly recommend!

Best of both worlds, food and history! - My husband and I truly enjoyed Chef Mike Hebb and his command of history along with his excellent meal preparation! The food was delicious and representative of the types of meals prepared during the 18th and 19th centuries. We also had great conversations and interactions with other guests around the dinner table! The cost includes a tour of the Historical Society Museum.

Superb Historical Supper Club - Mike the Host, Historian, Chef, Server and Busboy is unbelievable! His instructions how to find the building are very clear, then if you come 20-40 minutes early you have a chance to peruse the museum which contains some interesting artifacts and is interactive. But the dinner!!! Seven entrées, all attributed to the time and prominent families of Charleston. I won’t tell you what we ate because Mike is very creative and he is constantly researches and cooks something new. Let me tell you, it was delicious. And accompanied by so much historical information that I will have to come to three more dinners to remember a third of the facts. Street names and historical markers began to mean more after his dinner. We had 10 people at the table, none of them locals, the dinner talk gave us the opportunity to talk and share. And dessert!! I am not a fan of sweet things, but Mike’s chocolate sponge was to die for. Bottom line: worst every dollar and every second!

Outstanding and unique culinary "tour" - Mike, the host, is a polished professional. An academic historian and trained cook who has created this unique experience. It is his passion project that brings to life the culinary history of Charleston. You get 30 minutes to tour the museum and then two plus hours of entertaining history describing the legendary families, life and times of Charleston while enjoying a large meal (10 dishes on this night). He changes the menu several times per year so there is always something new to learn and experience. Great for tourists, but our group also included several locals who enjoyed their first experience so much they came back for a second time and brought friends!
