Not to be missed Charleston Historic District Walking Tour - Footprints is an excellent and not to be missed walking tour of the Charleston, SC Historic District. We went on a saturday morning at a time when there was variable rain. We were the only ones who showed up at the tour (New Englanders are hardy when it comes to inclement weather!!). It was like having our own personal tour. Our tour guide, Bruce, is a 7th generation Charlestonian and had an immense command of Charleston history. We were quite surprised to learn that Charleston's history dates back to 1670 when it was first established by English colonists. It has a rich history of a variety of settlers from English, French, Spanish, Irish, Germans and beyond. There are multiple churches and social clubs that remain today from the Hibernians and French Protestant Huguenots. It is well worth exploring this historic southern city and it's rich history.

Al Brings Charleston’s History to Life - My wife and I had the pleasure of joining Al Ray’s 9:30am walking tour with Charleston Footprints, and it was a highlight of our trip. Al was incredibly knowledgeful—not just about Charleston and the South, but about history, architecture, and culture in general. He even picked up on the fact that I’m Irish and made a point to highlight the Irish influence on the city throughout the tour, which made the experience feel even more personal and thoughtful. Al is a passionate storyteller and a true expert. The tour was engaging, informative, and full of fascinating details we would’ve missed on our own. Highly recommend!

Maybe we just had a bad guide - Neither of us enjoyed the guide. I think his name is Al, When he showed up we thought he was a homeless person. He was not dressed professionally, had a dirty jacket and cap. He was hard to understand, and it wasn’t just his accent. He tried too hard to be funny and entertaining, he was neither. The other folks on the tour also did not seem to get into him. We did cover a good amount of sights. He seemed knowledgeable. We did not tip, which was a first for me. I didn’t notice anyone else tip him either

No show - Was there 20 minutes early, waited 20 minutes after the tour start time of 2:30. No one showed up. Called the number listed for this company, left a message. This was two days ago, still waiting for a reply.

Tour guide no-showed - Tour guide no-showed the tour so we weren’t able to actually go. I’m sure it would have been great as we’ve heard good things from friends.
