From there, participants will explore various historic sites and artifacts to complete the “escape.” This self-guided adventure spans approximately a mile and a half through Charleston’s most historic district.

This pirate-themed scavenger hunt is inspired by the actual Pirate Siege of Charles Town in 1718. You’ll need to navigate your way out of the city using the instructions provided in the packet. Historical accuracy is a priority, with sites and packet instructions vetted by two local historians and the director of the Powder Magazine. While the experience is suitable for children, it is best enjoyed by those aged 10 and up due to its length and historical content.

Great walking tour - This was a great family adventure tour. The clues help you navigate around Charleston’s historic district plus learn its history. A bonus was that you text photos of you finds along the way to the tour company so it helps you to document tour trip as well, which I loved. I highly recommend this tour.

Fun walking tour - Great fun walking tour of old Charleston hunting for items listed on guide. This was a family excursion including three generations. The tour took us about 1 1/2 hours but we stopped a couple of places along the way. The tour was a little under four miles. Recommend

Pirate fun - The Powder Magazine is full of interesting history and my kids had fun playing some of the games. Though we were unable to finish the Scavenger Hunt Scavenger, the parts we did were fun and interesting. I was especially impressed with how supportive and accessible the organizers are. They made the experience more enjoyable.

Great Way to Experience Charleston - My hubby and I loved our walking tour of Charleston guided by this clever pirate-history-themed scavenger hunt! What a great way to see things around the city we would've totally passed by otherwise. We loved the history and the way the hunt wove some playfulness into our walk!

Very nice adventure - I wish we had received a certificate or sticker to advertise we completed the tasks. An acknowledgement would have been nice.
