Step back in time and immerse yourself in the world of colonial firearms with our hands-on Flintlock Musket Experience. Learn the history, technology, and skills behind these iconic weapons in a small group setting.
- 623 Meany Rd - In this 2 hour experience, guests will have an opportunity to learn about colonial history in a hands-on way.
We start off with an overview of colonial era firearms technology as explained by a professional historic gunsmith with 35 years experience. You’ll learn about how these muskets were used in the 18th century and why.
Then after going over basic firearms safety and muzzleloader safety in particular, we’ll go for a short walk out into the woods to our rustic shooting range where guests will learn to load and fire a replica 18th century flintlock musket at a target.
All supplies and safety gear are provided.
This is rural NH and you should dress for playing outside.
Class size is limited to four people who will actually shoot, non-shooting spectators are welcome.

The journey begins with a practical introduction to the firearm technology that was prevalent during the American colonial era. The instructor, possessing over three decades of experience in facets such as the building, collecting, restoration, and utilization of historic weaponry, will guide you.
The teaching will cover the general small weaponry of the 18th century, their design philosophies, capabilities, and limitations.
Following a safety briefing, we will transition to our quaint shooting range. Here, you’ll acquire the fundamental skills of loading a flintlock musket, akin to the militia of over two centuries ago. Subsequently, test your accuracy by aiming and firing at a target.
