• 623 Meany Rd - This engaging 2-hour experience offers guests a unique opportunity to explore colonial history through hands-on activities.

Upon arrival, participants will be equipped with a flintlock musket and a cartridge box to participate in militia training, reminiscent of 1775. Once armed, the group will proceed to a rustic rural range to “learn the drill” of loading and firing the musket.

After everyone is familiar with the instructions and understands the commands, live ammunition will be used to shoot at life-sized targets from 25 yards, a distance suitable for beginners.

Between shots, there will be discussions about the historical context of the musket and its users.

The final two rounds offer a chance to race against the clock to see how quickly the musket can be loaded and fired. Can you set a new record? You might be surprised! The current record was set by someone who had never handled a musket before!

All necessary supplies and safety equipment are provided.

This is rural NH, so dress appropriately for outdoor activities.

Class size is limited to four active participants, but non-shooting spectators are welcome.

The journey begins with a practical introduction to the firearm technology that was prevalent during the American colonial era. The instructor, possessing over three decades of experience in facets such as the building, collecting, restoration, and utilization of historic weaponry, will guide you.

The teaching will cover the general small weaponry of the 18th century, their design philosophies, capabilities, and limitations.

Following a safety briefing, we will transition to our quaint shooting range. Here, you’ll acquire the fundamental skills of loading a flintlock musket, akin to the militia of over two centuries ago. Subsequently, test your accuracy by aiming and firing at a target.
