Flight from Kathmandu (1400m) to Lukla (2840m) and trek to Phakding (2610m)
Lukla - The operator will transfer you to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Domestic Airport for your scheduled morning flight to Lukla. Lukla marks the beginning of the 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek. After a scenic 30-minute flight over the stunning green and white Himalayas, you will land at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla.
Phakding - Upon arrival, you will meet your trekking guide and commence your trek. After a few hours of walking, you will reach Phakding. Today’s hike is short to aid in proper acclimatization. If interested, you can also take a side trip to a nearby monastery.
Trek from Phakding (2610m) to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Namche Bazaar - On the second day of the Everest Base Camp 12 Days Trek, you will walk through a beautiful pine forest. The trail follows the bank of the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. Along the way, enjoy the stunning views of Mount Thamserku (6618m). You will pass through the settlements of Benkar and Monjo, eventually arriving at the check post and entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. Before reaching Namche, you will pass through the last village of Jorsale. The trail ascends through forests and bridges until reaching the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi Rivers. After a final steep ascent of about two hours, you will get your first glimpse of Mount Everest over the Lhotse and Nuptse ridges. An additional hour and a half of walking will bring you to Namche.
Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Trek from Namche Bazaar (3440m) to Tengboche (3810m)
Tengboche - The trek to Tengboche is dusty and winding, but the panoramic views from the monastery make it worthwhile. With few challenging ascents and descents, there is ample time to focus on photography. Capturing images of stupas (Buddhist temples), prayer flags, Mani walls (walls with Buddhist prayers engraved on them), mountains like Ama Dablam (6,812 m), and Tengboche Monastery are all rewarding activities.
Trek from Tengboche (3810m) to Dingboche (4410m)
Dingboche - The trek from Tengboche to Dingboche begins with a visit to the region’s oldest Buddhist monastery. The journey continues through alpine woods to Upper Pangboche, a large settlement, and then past the villages of Shomare, Orsho, and Tsuro Wog. While traveling through the Khumbila Khola valley to the ridge top, enjoy breathtaking views of the rising mountains of Taboche (6,495m), Mount Thamserku (6,608m), Mount Ama Dablam (6812m), Mount Nuptse (7,861m), Mount Cholatse (6,440m), and Mount Lhotse (8,516m), among others. Dingboche is reached after continuing up the path past Imja Khola.
Acclimatization Day in Dingboche (4410m)
Dingboche - You will be rewarded with a spectacular view, but rest is essential to complete the final leg of your adventure. On this day, you might choose to explore Dingboche and the surrounding villages of Chhukung and Imja or take a rest for the next hike. Short hikes can be done in various ways. Nagarjun Hill (2,128m) and Chhukung Ri (5,546m) are possible hikes. The top of Nagarjun Hill offers views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lobuche, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and other peaks.
Trek from Dingboche (4410m) to Lobuche (4910m)
Lobuche - The trek begins with a climb through the Khumbu Khola valley to Duglha. As you approach Dusa, the valley narrows. The route is challenging, with various massive boulders and mountain yaks passing by at a high altitude nearby. Many memorials with prayer flags and stones in remembrance of climbers who died on the way to Mt. Everest can also be found. You will then arrive at the path that connects Gokyo Lakes and Cho-La Pass.
Trek from Lobuche (4910m) to Gorakshep (5140m) then Everest Base Camp (5364m) and back to Gorakshep
Gorakshep - The trail to Gorakshep continues along the side of the Khumbu Glacier. The path passes through the pyramid signpost. A decent ascent will take you to Thangma Riju, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of snowcapped mountains. Upon reaching Gorakshep, the surrounding snowcapped mountains, including the top of the world, welcome you.
Everest Base Camp - From Gorakshep, you will trek to Everest Base Camp. After enjoying the rewarding views of Mount Everest and other mountains around, this is the destination for this trek. You will cherish the most memorable moment at the Base Camp.
Gorakshep - After spending priceless time at Base Camp, you will return to Gorakshep, surrounded by the amazing landscape of the Sherpa atmosphere, where you will stay overnight.
Trek from Gorakshep (5140m) to Kala Patthar (5555m) then Trek down to Pheriche (4240m)
Kala Patthar - An early start in the morning is made to catch the dramatic mountain views from Kalapatthar. Kalapatthar is considered one of the finest viewpoints in the EBC 12 Days Trekking. From Kalapatthar, you can observe the first light of the day shining on the glorious Mount Everest.
Pheriche - After spending some time in Kalapatthar, you will descend back to Gorakshep. After resting for a while, you will gradually descend to Pheriche, where you will stay overnight.
Trek from Pheriche (4280m) to Namche (3440m)
Namche Bazaar - The trek route follows the same path back to the terminal moraines at Dughla and along the wide valley of Khumbu Khola. You will pass through the beautiful Sherpa villages of Pheriche and Orsho, along with Shomare. You will then reach Pangboche village, where you can explore the oldest monastery in the region, which is said to contain the scalp and bones of the legendary Yeti. Leaving the mountains behind, you will descend through Tengboche Monastery at an elevation of 3860m before reaching Namche.
Trek from Namche (3440m) to Phakding (2610m) and then to Lukla (2840m)
Phakding - Today’s trekking trail descends steeply. Therefore, it is important to walk slowly and with control as your legs adjust to the rocky terrain. The trail becomes more level and natural after crossing the suspension bridges over the rushing Dudh Koshi River.
Lukla - You will start to feel the warmth of the light breeze today. Passing through the lovely forests of pine and rhododendrons, you will eventually arrive at Lukla, where you will stay overnight.
Flight from Lukla (2840m) to Kathmandu (1400m)
Thamel - Today, you will fly back to Kathmandu after a long mountain journey. You will catch your morning flight from Lukla, and after about 35 minutes, you will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your onward journey. Tour ends.
