Place Outa el Hammam - Outa el Hammam square serves as the historical and touristic heart of Chefchaouen, featuring the Grand Mosque, its minaret, and numerous pavement cafes and restaurants. This vibrant area is a hub of entertainment and interest. Situated in the city center, Outa el Hammam square is one of the most frequented sites, attracting tourists with its stunning historical monuments. Historically, this square was a training ground for riders and martial artists. As the oldest square in the city, Outa el Hammam is renowned for its blend of rich history and contemporary life, complete with shops and cultural activities.
Chefchaouen Medina - The medina of Chefchaouen, set against the striking Rif Mountains, is adorned with white-washed homes featuring unique powder-blue accents. The call to prayer echoes from several mosques throughout the town. This is an ideal spot to unwind for a few days from the demands of travel.
Ras El Maa Waterfall - The Ras el Maa spring is the foundation upon which the town of Chefchaouen was built. It remains the sole source of drinking water for the town. Historically, it powered water mills along its banks and irrigated nearby farms. Today, managed by the National Office of Drinking Water (ONEP), it has become a popular tourist attraction in Chefchaouen.
Chefchaouen to Tangier and Tangier to Casablanca
Cap Spartel - Cape Spartel, located 14 kilometers west of Tangier on Morocco’s northern Atlantic coast, was constructed in 1864 by Sultan Muhammad III. Positioned about 1,000 feet above sea level at the Strait of Gibraltar’s entrance, it is a notable site in Tangier, connecting the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can enjoy stunning views and take photos near the lighthouse. Although often mistakenly thought to be Africa’s northernmost point, that title belongs to Ras ben Sakka in Tunisia.
Caves of Hercules - Situated beneath Cape Spartel, the Caves of Hercules can be accessed from Robinson Plage. Visitors can explore these legendary caves, enjoy panoramic views around the lighthouse, and engage in bird-watching activities.
Tangier Casbah - The Kasbah in Tangier is a labyrinth of blue and white buildings adorned with beautiful doors featuring hobnails and trident hardware to ward off evil. It boasts a delightful market.
Medina of Tangier - Tangier’s medina, the city’s top attraction, is a maze of commercial and residential alleyways. Enclosed by the walls of a 15th-century Portuguese fortress, most buildings are relatively new for a Moroccan medina. The area is filled with travelers’ treasures and offers insights into traditional living. Unfortunately, local touts can be more bothersome here than in most other parts of Morocco.
