Cooking Tasty Tagine at Sunset in Chefchaouen - Aman’s private cooking class was the highlight of our trip to Morocco! We had the beautiful mountainside all to ourselves and enjoyed some tea and sweets (baked by Aman’s talented mother) when we first arrived. Then Aman led us through some quick prep of chopping produce and mixing kofte meatballs for our tagine dinner. We chatted with Aman and learned all about the history of Chefchaouen while our tagine was cooking over an open flame. Our dinner was one of the most satisfying meals we’ve ever enjoyed and the beautiful view of the blue city at sunset made it taste all the better. We’d highly recommend anyone visiting Morocco to book a class with Aman because you won’t regret it!

Hospitality with a view! - My friends & I just stumbled upon Aman’s place while admiring the views on our first day in Chefchaouen. We weren’t able to fit a formal class into our itinerary, but Aman provided us with such hospitality anyway! He gave us all mint tea and answered our questions about the area. Very kind people and some of the best views over the city! Not a challenging hike to get to.

We could choose one starter and one main between 2 of us and the food was delicious! Aman told us about the history of Chefchaouen while our food was cooking. Amazing half day activity in Chefchaouen - An amazing way to spend half a day in Chefchaouen. Aman and Mohammed really made us feel welcome and we whole heartedly enjoyed the experience (market tour add-on and cooking class) with them. You have plenty of time to enjoy the spectacular view sipping on tea while your food is cooking. The cooking itself is a hands-on experience, with Aman guiding the preparation. Our group of 5 was given the opportunity to cook 2 appetizers and 3 mains - all of which were delicious - plus some fruit for dessert. An added bonus was the adorable and extremely well behaved pooch who has recently taken up residence on the farm.

Perfect way to learn about Morocco and enjoy a great view - Amanellah was a great host and the location is perfect! Learning to cook a traditional Moroccan dish on what use to be his families farm, overlooking the blue city at sunset was magic. The food was freshly sourced from the local markets and aman was full of knowledge about chefchaouen. My partner and I highly recommend!

Extraordinary Experience - We hiked up a steep hill to reach the rustic stone farmhouse perched on the edge of the mountain. Our hosts offered us delicious mint tea while we took in our spectacular surroundings. We prepared a colorful eggplant appetizer and chicken with preserved lemon dish in a clay tajine. Cooked over a wood fire, the meal was delicious. Watching the glorious sunset and listening to the wailing call to evening prayer reverberate through the Riff mountains was truly an extraordinary experience and the most memorable of our trip to Morocco.

Outdoor cooking class, one of our favorite experiences! - My 2 friends and I took this cooking class and it was one of our favorite experiences of our 3 weeks in Morocco. We took a taxi from our hotel to the meeting place where our instructor met us and walked us up to the farm. The setting for the class is incredible. We chopped and diced all the vegetables which had been bought at the market that morning, tomatoes, onions, eggplant, parsley, garlic and many spices and then assembled 3 different tagines with our instructor’s direction. These were then placed on an outdoor cook stove and we sat with our mint tea and enjoyed the sunset. We were served a delicious meal of eggplant appetizer, meatball tagine and a chicken tagine. Our instructor speaks excellent English and we were able to share stories with him and his assistant. After we finished our meal we walked back down to a waiting car. Be sure you pay attention to your footwear, the path up and down could be challenging in sandals or lightweight shoes.

Fabulous dishes, stunning venue - Aman's cooking course was super. He first took us to the market to buy ingredients, then we went to his family's hillside property, where we met his Mum and sister. We enjoyed a Moroccan mint tea overlooking the blue city while Aman prepared our table for chopping veggies. We'd chosen to cook 4 dishes. Two starters: 1 courgette tagine and 1 aubergine tagine, which would both be cooked on the gas stove. Two mains: 1 x vegetable tagine and 1 x chicken with olives and preserved lemon, which would both be cooked over an open fire. Aman explained the recipes, spices and herbs and answered all our questions as we chopped and cut up the ingredients on an outside table under shady almond trees. While the dishes cooked we chatted together about our recent hike in the Rio mountains. The dishes were delicious and we were all thrilled with the results. We've even bought a traditional tagine clay pot from the market to bring home! An added bonus was the birthday cake with candles for our birthday boy, and where better to celebrate than overlooking Chefchaouen eating authentic Moroccan fare. Thank you Aman and your family for an exceptionally wonderful day.
