Best Tour Guide for Great Wall! - My friends and I had an amazing time on our Private Trekking Day Tour to Jingshanling Great Wall! Our guide was fantastic, making the experience both educational and fun. The trek itself was breathtaking, and sharing it with friends made it even more memorable. One of the highlights was the opportunity to explore sections of the wall that were less crowded, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty and serenity of the surroundings. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience at the Great Wall, this tour is an absolute must!

Delightful Refurbished seclude JinShanLing - Day 2 tour with Catherine Lu Tour. 9AM sharp saw friendly 小龙 and Boss Catherine herself. As plan but forgotten by us 😅. Wife was surprised reached the entrance of JinShanLing by just a turn out from our hotel stay (3min-5min [get in car timing]) After entering decided to take the cable car too to somewhere on the top but  🚡 was down due to weather. (Thks 🐈 for going ard to find out) so took the shortest way up again. Steep and tough at first but relax later down route. JSL Wall actually is less steep and challenging then SMT Wall but better build as had refurbished by government. Longer down 🧱 walk but relaxing. Support the stall sellers (Watchtowers) while you hike, (Buy a drink/souvenirs) Enjoy the so call Deserted Great Wall!!! Honestly didn't wan to post this review... hate to see this place get crowded too. Great research by my wife. Reasonable Quote by Catherine Lu Tours. Excellent photography skills by 🐈. Really took our own sweet time at GREAT WALL OF CHINA😜 (Total Hike 4Hrs). PLEASE DUN SPREAD🙏🙏😅😅 Reached one of the homestay at about 1.30pm to have a homemade lunch by the Boss. Didn't expect much for me so was an eye opener about this part of China. We choose to end early as plan so to reserve energy for the coming days. 🐈 Lu Tour send us back to Beijing to the next hotel that my wife book. Very Satisfying!! Had CLIMBED 2 different sites of GREAT 🧱 without being really physical prepared for it. Luckily Didn't opt for MuTianYu site(Maybe less challenging) as was told Marvelous for older folks. (Maybe next time to explore) Although is nearer only about 90min away from Beijing Ring 1, a 2hr drive back from JSL or SMT to Beijing is much more worthwhile to us.

Once in a lifetime experience at Great Wall of China with an amazing English-speaking guide - We strongly recommend booking a guided tour through Catherine Lu and with Justin to the Great Wall of China. Jinshanling was a great choice for us since we like hiking and we wanted to avoid too many tourists. You need to be fit but we think that it’s possible to go there even if you’re not super fit. It was such a professional itinerary and our guide Justin informed us about it and kept us updated. Justin is one of the best guides we’ve ever met. He is so warmhearted, professional and knowledgeable. We truly felt in good hands. He is extremely good at English. We gained a better understanding of the Chinese history, Beijing and China in general. It was also very appreciated that he gave us information about Beijing during the drive to the Great Wall. The lunch of traditional Chinese food was delicious. We really appreciated our discussions with Justin and the driver as well. We really recommend booking a guided tour with Justin and Catherine Lu Tours. Thank you for making our weekend in Beijing amazing and a life long memory!

Driver to Jinshanling and Gubei water town - Our driver Mr Zhang Feng was very friendly and engaging from start till end. He shared many stories about Beijing as we drove to the Jinshanling part of the Great Wall for our hike. He took many photos of us for a bit before leaving us to explore on our own. The timing for our trip was relaxed and flexible. He drove us to Gubei Water Town next and picked us up when we were ready to head back to Beijing. Overall a great experience!

Will come back again! - Had the most surreal, ethereal sunset experience in Jinshangling. So much quieter than Mutianyu & less touristy but also much harder as most of the steps are very steep. Not for the faint of heart but I’m definitely coming back again.

Something for kids to remember for years - This is our(1 adult and 2 kids, both < 10 y.o) 2nd day of 3-day booked tour with Catherine Lu. There are in total 15 sections of Great Wall in Beijing, tourists are often offer to select from 3 most approachable ones, this being most remote and less "touristic" but closer to the authentic and splendid view that we long to see. Arrangement: discussion and selection of the sections took place 10 days prior to our trip. I made reference to video clips offered, as well as some reviews by non-local on Youtube. The discussion, video clips are very helpful for decision making, as long as you know what attracts you the most and what your physical status can support. I really like how subtle and well the arrangement is done. 1 day before we set-off ( from 6:30 am pick from hotel), our guide Peter provides 2 options - leave early or late ( Rush hour traffic in Beijing is NOT fun). it's very considerate and thoughtful. we spent >4 hours on the road, both ways, ~4 hours on the wall, 30 min walking down the hill, <1 hour for food after the Hike. Transportation: A sedan was arranged, the car is clean, smoke-free. Driver is professional and not chatty. He drives stable, which kids had sound sleep on the way back. Experience on the Great Wall: we spent 4 good hours on the wall, 9am to 1 pm. our guide Peter Yin has totally respected/accepted all questions my kids have raised, from history, culture to architecture and some science ones. He has been really open to our challenges to go through a total of 21 Watch Tours, which I wasn't really sure if my kids can do. It turned out - Don't undersestimate your kids. There aren't many tourists at all - so we took our pace to enjoy gazing at the landscape, the view, the scene, having discussions a lot w/o worrying about noises from others or to others. Kids cannot stop wondering what would it look like after a snow, would the hike be more challenging. Through the whole hike, the rubbish tins are available here and there. So are the mobile toilets.  There are villagers who set up shops at some Watch Towers, too. Can be convenient to those who didn't bring enough supplies (though we didn't check the price). Peter is really caring to the kids, too. at one steep rise, I wasn't worrying about my 7 y.o. while he followed along to make sure she is safe. It turned out my legs were shaking after going up and can only took some pictures lying down on the floor after all the way up. "Climb the Great Wall", yeah, it is true coz you will get to use hands often... After accomplishing all 21 Watch Tours, we walked down the hill to the carpark. He and the driver waited patiently for us to rest-up and enjoy the view of golden Gingko tree ( those downtown are still greenish), which i really appreciate. Food: Peter was kind to offer us some local Baozi as breakfast. We were taken to a local restaurant that offers delicious food at very reasonable price. we ate well. we look forward to future chances to stay at the hotel there overnight and have a full day hike, and again, with guide from Peter or someone working with Catherine.

JinShanLing Tour was Fantastic! - Wendy was our tour guide at the Great Wall of China. She guided us at the JinShanLing section, which is further away from Beijing near DongBei. The package included a gondola lift to the, and saved time for the hike upOverall, we had an amazing experience with her. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and went above and beyond to make the visit memorable. I learned so much about the history and significance of this incredible landmark. I highly recommend their services!

Amazing day at the Great Wall - Absolutely amazing! This was a highlight of our China trip. Cathy took us for a walk along the 8km section of the great wall. The walk required certain degree of fitness, determination and perspiration. We were lucky that for the majority of the walk it was just us and the wall with its steep ups and downs. The views and the weather were fantastic. We saw an amazing sunset. Cathy was with us all the way. She has a great command of English. Organisation of the trip and communications with Cathy were flawless. If you are contemplating visiting Great Wall away from the beaten track this is the tour to take. Though the trip Cathy provided detailed commentary as we traversed different parts of the wall. Definitely a day to remember. Alex & Lana [Melbourne, Australia]
