During the hike, you’ll encounter numerous watchtowers and barrier towers, observing the contrast between the renovated and wild sections. You’ll also catch a distant view of the Simatai Great Wall section. The walk starts at the East Five-Eye Tower and continues up to the ruined towers, with a moderate difficulty level. Along the route, you’ll pass several notable towers: Black Tower, Lesser Jinshan Tower, and Big Jinshan Tower.

Amazing day trip - Communication re pick up time and place was excellent. We drove out of Beijing for 2.5 hours to Jinshanling which is a quieter part of the wall. Once there we hiked about 6km along the wall to the pick up point which took us 3.5 hours. We were super lucky with the weather. Glorious blue skies and we could see as far as the horizon. Not going to lie, the hike was strenuous, not a walk in the park. So if you’re not up for scaling the wall on your hands and feet at points I wouldn’t recommend this. But if you are up for a 3-4 hour hike up and down the Great Wall then I couldn’t recommend this enough.

Amazing tour - Everything was perfect ! The driver picked us up at our hotel on time (it’s recommended to leave early around 7am to avoid traffic jam) and then it took less than 2 hours to arrived at the east gate of jinshanling ! We walked the 8/10km on the Great Wall until the main gate like Catherine Lu recommended us. It was mind blowing ! And then the driver was waiting for us at the main gate and he brought us to a local restaurant that was really good !

Thank you, Justin! - Catherine Lu helped us arrange an itinerary to suit our needs. Justin was a fabulous guide. He gave some history and did some trekking with us, but then gave us free time to explore on our own. Highly recommend booking with Justin!

Amazing trip on a beautiful, quiet section of the Great Wall - It was a wonderful trip. Punctual pickup at the hotel, a great drive. Then hiking up to the wall is great - in October, the leaves are turning yellow. Right when getting to the wall, you have an amazing view. Our guide, Justin, was excellent. Answering all our questions, very knowledgeable and giving helpful information for the remainder of our China trip.
The hike is great. A very calm section of the wall until the end, where it’s the classic tourist location. We took about 3 hours (actual walking time 2 hours, but lots of stops to enjoy the beautiful scenery).

Jingshanling Great Wall is amazing - Our Tour Guide (Justin) was the best. He spoke very good English and explained the Jinshanling area very well. We will miss him :( The lunch was also authentic and very tasty. We highly recommend this tour. The Great Wall in this region is very impressive. It was the highlight of our visit to Beijing.

Brilliant day at the Great Wall - We had an amazing day trip with Justin to Jinshanling Great Wall. It is a great location to view the wall with not too many people. Justin was very knowledgeable about not only the history of the wall but also China’s long and complicated history lunch was amazing at a local farmer’s restaurant near the wall. Highly recommend this tour.

Unforgettable day trip to the Great Wall of China!! - The day trip to Jinshanling was one of the Unpacked of our trip through China. Picking up in the morning at 6:45 was handy to avoid the traffic of the city a bit. After about 2 hours we were then at the wall and could begin the hike. The Jinshanling section is slightly further from Beijing compared to other sections, but is therefore also less frequented. Especially at the beginning of the tour we were partly all alone on the wall, which was a unique experience in fantastic weather through the beautiful landscape and the mountain panorama. Although we had left so early we decided to stay until sunset during the hike. Fortunately, this was not a problem for our driver and he agreed immediately, so we were on the wall virtually the entire day.
2 hours drive later at the hotel we were very exhausted from the day but had also taken unforgettable memories and beautiful photos.

Chose Jinshanling and have the wall to yourself! - We chose a Private Transfer without a guide to Jinshanling with Catherine Wu Tours because we wanted to explore the wall on our own. And we totally made the right choice!
From the outset, Catherine We Tours were great to deal with, communication was swift and clear, we were picked up and dropped of from/to our hotel with ease.
Our driver Lu Xiaolong went over and above to make our trip unforgettable.
If we could give him 10 stars, we would!
He shouted us a surprise breakfast after we forgot to eat before we left. He gave us snacks, water and was really friendly and helpful. His car was modern, comfortable, clean and well air-conditioned. We communicated easily via a translation app that Lu had on his phone 🙂 He has a wonderfuly positive outlook on life, is very knowledgeable and attentive.
Jinshanling was AMAZING. Most of the time we had the entire wall to ourselves, it was very relaxed, quiet and stunningly beautiful, a spectacular spot and good break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
There are so many photo opportunities at this part of the wall. Some restored parts and some left unrestored, which adds to the magic ✨
We highly recommend choosing Catherine Wu Tours and our driver Lu Xiaolong. My only wish is that we had more time, I guess we will have to plan another visit in the future!

Like Having the Whole Wall to Yourself - We thoroughly enjoyed our tour to the Great Wall. Our tour guide, James, was super-friendly, had great knowledge, and was super accommodating--making sure that we achieved everything we wanted to on the day. James has great English, which made the tour very easy for us.
The car for the 2 hour drive was comfortable, well-air-conditioned and a friendly driver.
The wall itself was spectacular and we were taken to a piece that was far away from the usual tourist bustle. I think we only saw 5-6 other people the whole time we were there.
We enjoyed this tour so much that we booked a different tour with the James for the following day. Highly recommend.
