Bike and Walk Tour of Chengdu - Worley was a great guide who took us to at least four major tourist attractions in Chengdu in four hours from pickup to our hotel at the W and back. She is very knowledgeable including history of religions, architecture, and is a big panda fan. The tour was not the typical bike ride we are used to where we stayed on bikes the majority of the time. We took the metro and walked around the places we visited on this tour and probably traveled on bike for about 10 km. It was a wonderful introduction of the city that allowed us to see Wenshu Monastery, Kuanzhai Alley, People’s Park, and Qingyang Palace. We were pressed on time otherwise Worley would’ve spent more time in the locations. Thank you, Worley, for the great tour!

Great and active 1/2day out - We'd booked this tour on our 1st day in Chengdu and this was really a good thing to do. This way we didn't only get to see some of the sights, it also gave us a sense of orientation for the rest of our stay in Chengdu. The tour takes you all over town and there are stops along the way. Our guide Martin spoke good English and showed us lots of different things in town. It's easy to ride in Chengdu as it's a flat town (no hills). It's also very green wo you get to ride through parks and shade too.

The guide and I started this tour at... -
The guide and I started this tour at People's Park. We then went to wide and narrow alleys. We biked past a central square with a statue of Mao and then went to a large mall off of Taikoo Li where the panda is climbing the IFS building. Within this mall there is a monastery or temple that I heard later would have been worth seeing inside. Finally we rode past the Wohou temple and Jinli street. This temple is very crowded and we did not go inside. My recommendation would be to ask the guide to allow you to go inside the temples, stop to shop or grab a recommended snack, or have tea in People's Park. The tour guide's English was good, but I would have liked her to have shared more information with me.

I made the reservation about 36 hours in advance and was glad they could accommodate our party of 4. The bikes weren't ready upon arrival to the tour starting point, but were quickly rectified within 15 minutes. They weren't fancy, but they had gears and handbrakes, so no complaints. The half-day tour was perfect in length. Right about the time our butts were hurting, it was over. A great day and a great way to really get the lay of the land. Having a guide through the People's Park added great insight.

We paid for China Standards a high amount of money of 50 USD per person to see the main square, the main park and a touristic street. I hoped to see and hear more About Chengdu. The guide was friendly and spoke good English though.

This tour was extremely expensive... -
This tour was extremely expensive for what it was: renting a bike and go around with a student who was nothing like a guide. Didn't know any informatiom about Chengdu i later read, we got lost in the city and he also didn't have an any information on the tourist sites we visited. For a tour costing 70 dollars while the rental bike for a day is 20 yuan so less than two dollars it was an incredible deception! I was really fortunate that the student "guide" called the local manager and the manager accepted to stop the tour after the first temple visit. I got something like 50 dollars back. But I lost my day, i would have loved to have a true guide a learn about the city and temples! ...and of course 20 dollars lost as well!
