Travel in a comfortable vehicle to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas, red pandas, peacocks, and black swans. Explore various sections of the center to gain a comprehensive understanding of a panda’s development, from a newborn to a fully-grown giant panda. Visit the baby garden to see giant panda cubs, which weigh only about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) at birth and can walk on their own by the third month. Next, stop at the sub-adult garden, where adolescent pandas reside. Finally, see the adult garden, home to fully-grown giant pandas. Capture photos of these endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping, or playing.
After your half-day tour of the Panda Breeding Center, return to the downtown area. If desired, your guide can recommend and escort you to a great place for lunch in central Chengdu.
