Really recommended - fun, educational, delicious - This was a terrific experience - our guide Jerry was so warm and friendly and the time flew by - one of the best things we did in Chengdu! The market was very interesting and we learned a lot from our guide's explanation and were able to try different foods that we hadn't tried before. The Chili Cool space is well-decorated and very clean. We had a little tea break before going into the kitchen. Learning to prepare the buns was fun (even though neither one of us was particularly good at it, there's real artistry involved ;)) and the chef showed us how different sauces were made as well as how other ingredients were prepared. At the end, we also enjoyed eating the buns and talking with our guide and other guests. This was relaxed, fun, and educational - really recommend Chili Cool.

Super Cooking class with Lance - We stayed a couple of days in Chengdu and wanted to try our hand at local cuisine! Lance was very kind, he initially accompanied us to the local Point of Sale where there is a surprise he designed for the participants. Then we moved to the cooking school for a “tea” break and started cooking together with the very kind cook of the school. Together they gave us all the instructions to compose our typical dishes, from the cutting of the ingredients, to the final assembly of the dish. It was a really positive experience, made so by Lance’s kindness and preparation! I highly recommend it!

One last local experience! - I visited local markets with a very kind Guide and sampled vegetables and tofu dishes I had never seen before. After that, I made bako in the kitchen, but they taught me how to wrap bean paste carefully, and in the end I was able to wrap it very well. We had a lot of children who had just learned English talk to us and the children had a good time. They experienced the local diet by eating watermelon and corn bought at the market, cucumber salad made by children on a special mission, and baozi made with porridge. Baozi was so delicious! It was a special family memory from the summer vacation.

Chengdu Cooking Class - This was an excellent experience and great value, highly recommended. The two hosts Lance and Jerry (names presumably substantially anglicised) spoke excellent English and were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The market tour was fascinating and fun, buying the ingredients for use. After tea and oranges, we had a ball making tasty and spicy Chinese pork buns. Lance and Jerry were most encouraging of my rather ham-fisted efforts at folding them neatly and I'm confident I'll master this once I get home. I managed to eat 7 and took home another 6 which were gone by nightfall! Don't hesitate to sign up and enjoy.

A great experience - A great experience, the local market was fun, interesting and we got to try and use a little Chinese language. Lance our guide was great from start to finish and took lots of fabulous pictures which meant we could get with our cookery class. Highly recommended this tour, one small little grip, the location of the cookery class was quite a distance and took us about an hour, better to tell clients in advance.

Wonderful day with „Chilli Cool China“ - We had a fantastic day with Lance. We visited the local market, learned all about Chinese spices and local Food. We made Sichuan springrolls and Dumplings. After some tea and snacks we started making buns. It was harder than expected but fun to learn. We highly recommend this trip and thank Lance for this special day in Chengdu!

Fantastic morning with Lance! - Lance was a fantastic host with lots of knowledge of the market foods and was happy to answer all of our questions about literally everything! He and the professional chef had lots of patience with us when we found it difficult making the steamed buns (my thumb had a mind of its own!) My partner didn’t really want to come along but I persuaded him it would be fun and now thanks to Lance and the Chilli Cool House crew, he wants to try more cooking classes on our world tour!! I would definitely recommend taking one of their classes whilst visiting Chengdu - it’s a must do.

Thank you guys for the unique experience. Wish you best.
