Positioned in Emeishan City, 160 km southwest of Chengdu, is Mt. Emei, soaring 3099 M above the earth’s surface. Renowned for its grandeur and charm, it is often hailed as ‘the most stunning among world’s beautiful mountains.’

Known as one of the four sacred mountains of Buddhism, the construction of Buddhist temples and monasteries on Mt. Emei dates back to the second century. By the termination of the 6th century, the mountain had established itself as a recognized Buddhist sanctuary. Even though there were originally 151 monasteries spread across the mountain, only over twenty stand today. Apart from being a Buddhist shrine for pilgrims, Mt. Emei serves as an excellent location for sightseers. The mountain is celebrated for its ‘ten wonder spots’ such as ‘Melodious Notes under the Twin Flying Bridges,’ ‘Autumn Wind over the Pure Water Monastery,’ ‘Fortuitous Ray on the Golden Peak’ and more.
