Well organised, comfortable and leisurely cruise down the Mekong - A great experience, well organised, good quality boat with very good food, and a number of stops included to visit a local village, plus the 'whisky village' and caves. There were 20 people on our boat, with plenty of room and a number of comfortable loungers to rest on, plus tables with bench seats. Our guide was excellent, informative and helpful. My wife & I joined this trip on a 'boat only basis' having sorted our accommodation (the Sanctuary) and visa independently. We were collected from our hotel in Chiang Khong bang on time, taken across the bridge and guided through the Laos entry process very smoothly. The boat is pretty much the same size & shape as the public boats but with more comfort, fewer people, good food included and a number of organised stops. I felt it was definitely worth paying the higher fee

A 2-day sanctuary! - The 2 day river cruise was enjoyable from start to finish. Our guide and boat crew were very hospitable - food and refreshments were constantly available. Our guide was informative of the local villages we stopped at along the river and took care of our transfers to and from the hotels and boat. The whole experience was so relaxing - I would definitely recommend!

We travelled during high... - We travelled during high season so the boat was quite full nevertheless it was a very pleasant trip, helpful and friendly staff and such a perfectly relaxing way to while away 2 days of travelling. If I had to give a suggestion to Viator - specify whether you’re part of the package or not as it wasn’t clear if we had any accommodation in Pakbeng

A great experience - Smooth and organised! From the point of booking to the end of the trip everything was well communicated and organised. The tour made it easy to cross the border after hotel pick up. Boat was nice and clean, refreshments and fruit available. Lunch provided both days was delicious! Couldn’t fault it. The only thing we didn’t like was the first village stop off on the first day. Felt a little uncomfortable walking around staring at families and local people just living their life. It’s an interesting concept but we didn’t feel too comfortable with this- personal preference! The night accommodation at Mekong villa le grande was lovely stay and great view! The food at the hotel wasn’t great but there’s no other options really. They organised all transport until you reach your accommodation in Luang Prabang. The boat wasn’t too busy and we spoke to so many different people Thank you for a great time! Thank you for a great time :)

An wonderful experience on the Mekong river into the Heart of Laos - We were lucky to have had an outstanding tour guide TIK from Laos knowing all about the different tribes and their history. So we experienced an authentic and heartfelt leader with exceptional communication and language skills!

Great Experience! - Myself and my partner booked the two day slow boat from Thailand into Laos through Nagi of Mekong instead of opting for the public boat and we don’t regret our decision one bit!! The whole trip was brilliant. The trip was very well organised and such a relaxing experience, a special shout out to our tour guide Tick! She was fantastic, she had great knowledge of all the things we visited and saw and was also very funny!! Communication organising the trip was great. The border crossing from Thailand to Laos took a very long time but nothing the company can do with this and would recommend staying on the Laos side the night before to avoid - all visa documents were dropped to our hotel the night before so we had nothing to worry about on the day. Lunch was provided and was tasty along with free tea and coffee. Lots of space on the boat and the stops at the local villages and the cave were a great way to break it up. Would 100% recommend and the views are just incredible.

Best way to travel! - What a great way to travel! This trip was so well organised, we were collected from our hotel and guided through the border control ( we didn’t have an e-visa so it was over 2 hours of organised chaos getting the visa there, but this was nothing to do with the tour organisers) then we were taken to the boat and set off down the river. The staff looked after us so well and the food was lovely. Tik, our guide was amazing and explained everything clearly. The stops at the villages and caves were a lovely break from the boat and a chance to stretch your legs. Bags were collected and taken on and off the boat and we had transport to and from our overnight stop and to our hotel in Luang Prabang. We stayed at Le Grand hotel in Pakbeng which was wonderful. The other travellers on board were all friendly and a real mix of ages and nationalities and made the trip even more memorable. Well worth the price and far, far better than the public boat!
