Highlights
  • Chiang Mai Gate - Chiang Mai Gate, also known as Pratu Tai Wiang, is situated on the southeast wall leading to Wiang Kum Kam. In the evening, a market springs up here, and at 6 AM, it’s a popular spot to pay homage to the monks.

  • Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara - Once possibly the largest structure in ancient Chiang Mai, the top of this chedi was destroyed either by a 16th-century earthquake or cannon fire during the 1775 recapture of Chiang Mai from the Burmese. Like many ancient monuments in Chiang Mai, Chedi Luang was in ruins when the city began its modern renaissance. However, a restoration project by UNESCO and the Japanese government in the 1990s stabilized the monument and prevented further degradation.

  • Wat Chedi Luang - Wat Chedi Luang is an old temple that was damaged in a 1545 earthquake, reducing the height of its pagoda to half its original size. Despite this, it remains a beautiful and impressive structure.

  • Wat Phra Singh - Wat Phra Singh is a highlight in the core zone of the Chiang Mai UNESCO World Heritage project. It is one of the most popular and frequently visited temples in the Old City of Chiang Mai, and it is beautifully illuminated after dark.

  • Chang Phuak Gate (The Elephant Gate) - Known as one of the best places for street food in Chiang Mai, this gate, sometimes called the North Gate, is located on the north side of the old city wall. During the day, the area is an ordinary street filled with shops, backpacker hostels, restaurants, and several ancient temples. However, it truly comes alive at night.

  • Chiang Mai - Before concluding the tour, enjoy a drink at Xanadu Pub and Restaurant. Take in the panoramic view of the city and the famous Doi Suthep in a serene and pleasant atmosphere.

Good experience, great guide! - The trip was not necessarily what we expected , as we thought we’d spend more time visiting local food areas and doing more sampling but we had Billy who was such an amazing guide, warm and made sure we understood the fullness of the city. Great experience to start our initial dive into Chiang Mai. The food and the wine down at the end was so good and we were very grateful for how well organized it was.
