Not as Expected - I can't recommend based on the description here, although the trip itself wasn't too bad, it did require a strong level of "go with the flow and see what happens." The description shown and itinerary here isn't what we actually did, and it seems to include an Elephant sanctuary as well which isn't mentioned, and the rafting was on the final day not the first. This wasn't quite the trek I expected, it was more of a hike between waterfalls where we would spend 30-60 minutes relaxing. Therefore from a trekking perspective it was very stop and start. You can buy this trip for much cheaper offline than online (I found this also to be the case for other tours I booked as a general rule) from your hostels or travel agencies in Chiang Mai. The Guide also wasn't the most communicative - he got better, but the communication at the beginning was very bad, and on the bus we all seemed to have a different view on the itinerary and what we were doing. While the organisers were probably quite organised, they didn't communicate things well to the group which gave the feeling of disorganisation i.e. getting on and off a bus a few times because we hadn't been told clearly what was happening. On arrival the guy we assumed was our guide (as he hadn't introduced himself) headed off to start the trek. There were just basic things like this, where a bit of training for the guide in how to kick start a group activity and offer a good customer service would be beneficial. But he is an authentic Karen native, and they are said to be quite quiet etc. Our guide was friendly when you go to know him, and he did mean well. We did stay at the places we expected, although interaction with other Karen people at the homestay was limited to the occasional wave and not really a cultural exchange. The food provided was plentiful and that was great. The guide was environmentally conscious and careful which was great to see. This was very much a "book it and see" trip. I'd have liked more trekking and less bathing, and better communication but the trip was enjoyable over all, and not expensive.
