  • Lake Michigan - Grab a cool drink from our bar, relax, and enjoy a leisurely evening sail past the brilliant and beautiful Chicago skyline. Then, join our storytellers on the main deck, if you dare. As night falls and the seas grow dim, journey through the misty curtains of time to uncover the mystery, history, legend, and lore of our Spirit Ships and Haunted Harbors.

Windy Tall Ship Fireworks for the 4th - Such a neat way to watch the Chicago Navy Pier Fireworks! The captain was able to get us a “front row” seat for the show. The crew did an excellent job of explaining things & made everyone feel comfortable !

Great family experience - This was a near perfect experience. The crew, the boat, the view were all great. A large crowd was moved on to and off the beautiful boat quickly. Despite the cruise being completely full, there was plenty of space for everyone to sit and view the fireworks. The crew placed us in the absolute best spot to view the fireworks. This experience was worth every penny. If you can, go!!

Fireworks - We pulled out about 15 minutes before fireworks. The crew was very helpful and Captain was very experienced. We sailed near the barge where the fireworks were going to be exploded. It was beautiful. You had the fireworks going off with the backdrop of the city. Afterwards we pulled the sales up and set sail around the lake for a while. It was a beautiful night. Perfect summer cruise. I highly recommend! We left at 8:45, Wednesday. Return approximately 10:00.

Probably great for a family with older kids. - The whole It was just okay. Not worth what we paid. Very nice staff. However we were so tired by this time of the night our manager rating may not be accurate especially with a 10 year old in tow.

BYO earplugs and chair - The ships sails out to the lake and gives a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline and fireworks. However, there were far more passengers than places to sit on the ship. For nearly $90 per ticket, I was really expecting to be able to sit down. Also the crew does a lot of shouting during the voyage. They especially shout at passengers standing in areas that impede the operation of the sail boat. This is understandable, but if all of the passengers had a place to sit the crew wouldn’t need to yell at us to get out of the way all the time. Also the boarding process was extremely inefficient. They didn’t let passengers board until about 15 minutes before departure, but then seemed to let a group onto the ship every 2-3 minutes. The line was barely moving until like 2 minute before departure when the crew decided to let everybody on (while shouting at us of course). Chicago is beautiful and the fireworks were stunning, but I saw a lot of other ships on the water and would book with literally any other company before returning to the Talk Ship Windy.
