Touring Chicago Field museum - We took a water taxi from Navy Pier to museum campus. It was a beautiful boat ride across while we viewed the beautiful Chicago skyline:) Great Experience!!

A Definite Must! - There is so much to see, and I didn’t have time to get to everything. It was such an interesting place, though. I’d love to go back.

Superb museum - Beautiful building. Once inside very extensive collection with clear arrangement of all kinds of collections. Not seen in other museums of natural sciences. Highly recommended.

Varied age kids all enjoyed - This was a wonderful museum with something for every age group and interest. My 15 teenage boy and 7 year old boy were both engaged all day. NOTE: this is an all day activity and honestly needs more than one day to visit each area. There is a children’s interactive play area in the bottom level that has different hours than the museum so be aware if you are planning that activity for your little ones. Food court was surprisingly good but expensive.

T-Rex and a lot of other different things to see and explore! - We went to the The Field Museum, located on Chicago's Museum Campus. Close to the Lake Michigan you have a good photo spot to take some breathtaking pictures from Chicago's skyline before proceeding into the museum. Close to the entrance you can rent lockers to store your backpacks during your stay (the bigger ones are more expensive). Don't forget to take a map of the museum with you (QR-Code or printversion) - this is quite helpful on your way through the museum. We went there for 2 hours and had only a change to see a glimpse of some of the exhibitions, the famous skeleton of the T-Rex was the highlight (for us). If you want to explore more, plan more time. We went there via the "Hop on - Hop off - Bus" Tour, there is a stop right in front of the building. This museum was also part of our "Go Tour Chicago Explorer City Pass" - with with you can visit a lot of sights at significantly more favorable conditions than without.

Amazing but Crowded - This is a magnificent museum, a true national treasure. Seems like there is too much to really absorb in one day, so pick what you really want to see, or perhaps you can go back more than once during your visit, or save some sections for the next time you are in Chicago. Our favorite exhibit is Sue the T-Rex, which was amazing. The Ancient Egypt exhibits are also very interesting. The museum is very popular and can get crowded, making it harder to pause over exhibits. And you may have to walk through winding corridors for some exhibits in order to easily exit them. So if you don't like crowds, consider visiting during what might be slower days -- such as mid-week in fall or winter. Also, if you have any health concerns with being in close quarters, consider bringing a face mask because you may be shoulder-to-shoulder with many people in some areas. The Field Museum is easy to reach on the Chicago electric commuter rail, which has a stop about a 10 minute walk away. The Shedd Aquarium is adjacent to the museum. The campus is also a short ride-share or taxi from downtown hotels, and there are many rides waiting outside the entrance when your visit is concluded. There is a good cafe on the first floor of the Field Museum. Suggest you get tickets online in advance.

Great museum with too much taxidermy - I liked this museum, but the seeming miles of taxidermy were ridiculous. Maybe there was a time in the past that the only way ordinary people could see animals was through taxidermy, but get rid of this stuff - it's creepy and offputting. Loved the Hall of Gems, Egyptian, and the indigenous people's exhibits.

Great to visit if the Shedd is sold out - We weren't able to get into the Shedd, so opted for the Field Museum instead and were pleasantly suprised by the amount of exhibits here. We couldn't ever see everything in the 2 hours we had! Amazing place.
