Great time - Visiting the Torture Museum in Chicago is a deeply thought-provoking and intense experience. The museum offers a comprehensive exploration of the dark side of human history, showcasing an array of tools and methods used for punishment and interrogation throughout the centuries. The exhibits are incredibly detailed, and the artifacts are accompanied by well-written descriptions that provide historical context. The museum does an excellent job of not just displaying these items but also delving into the psychological and societal impacts of torture. It’s both shocking and educational, forcing visitors to confront the harsh realities of the past and reflect on the ethics and morality of such practices. The layout of the museum is immersive, with dim lighting and atmospheric sound effects that enhance the eerie experience. However, it’s worth noting that this museum is not for the faint of heart or young children. Some of the exhibits are graphic and can be emotionally overwhelming, so it’s best suited for those who are prepared for such a heavy topic. What stands out most is the museum’s focus on creating awareness about human rights and promoting conversations about justice and accountability. It’s not just about the past—it serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and humanity in the present. Overall, the Torture Museum in Chicago is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone interested in exploring the darker aspects of human civilization. It’s an experience that will stay with you long after you leave.

Understanding the past and present - It's pretty interesting how far humankind has come, and how far we still have to go. We were amazed at how recently many of these torture techniques were used, and how many are still being used in "third world" countries.

I'll tell you what. It... - I'll tell you what. It definitely gave me the creeps. You can actually touch everything. You can touch the devices. You can touch the dummies. Of course be respectful with the touching. Don't get crazy with your hands. I liked listening to the stories for each one. The reason it's not a 5 start rating is because I wanted to play the interactive game. I downloaded the app through the QR code and it just wasn't working.
