Additional Information

Embark on an exciting exploration of Chicago’s Loop and River North areas with our historical pub trip utilizing the Brown Line! For those over 21, join us on this thrilling escapade that combines intriguing tales of Chicago’s history with delightful adult beverages as we wander through historical sites and iconic taverns in the city’s Near North Side.

Our adventure through Chicago commences at the stunning Marquette Building, from which we proceed to Adams Street Brewery, a part of The Berghoff, Chicago’s longest standing eatery where we pause for a tipple and a light bite. Our journey then takes us on a brief train ride on the Brown Line to River North.

Once in River North, our first stop is Brehon Pub, a locale shrouded in an interesting anecdote relating to bribery and the Chicago media. Following this, we make our way to the Green Door Tavern, Chicago’s most aged tavern situated over a closely guarded, genuine Prohibition-era speakeasy.

We once again hop aboard the train and navigate back to the Loop, where our exploration concludes with a ‘last call’ at the historical Monk’s Pub, known for its collection of antiques.

Drinking our way through Chicago’s iconic pubs - This was our second tour with l stop and Tom, as we visited 4 well renowned pubs. Money well spent, we enjoyed our brews, as Tom spins yarn about the historic pubs we visited! Also accommodated us by starting earlier as we had play tickets early that evening. Class act!

Tom is great! - Had a great time! Took my relatives from out of town who are very picky about activities and they loved this tour a lot. Tom is a great local guide who knows his city very well and brought lots of neat materials and photos to bring the sometimes sordid histories of each pub to life. Chicago is a city steeped in the tradition of libations so it would be a mistake to miss exploring the city from within her pubs!

Drunk history - Tom was a great guide; very informative on pubs I would have never come across. Allows plenty of time at each location while discussing historic attributes of each . Would like to do some of his other tours. A little rainy, even had ponchos for us.
