My tour experience - Johnathan, the tour guide at Chi Chen Itza was amazing. I am motivated to learn more about the Mayan civilization. All the tour guides were nice and courteous. The bus was nice and comfortable. The cnote swim was the highlight of the trip. Would have preferred more time there.

The pickup and drop-off service makes all the difference! - Fantastic value, my wife and I were stunned by what a good deal this tour was. For 200 CAD, we had pickup from our hotel and drop off after the tour, which was about 40 minutes away from the tour starting point (Puerto Morelos to Playa Del Carmen). The tour itself had all fees paid, so you didn't have to bring anything but a swimsuit, a towel, and money for buying snacks/drinks and souvenirs. The tour guides were knowledgeable and their English was good. 10/10 would recommend this tour.

Just do once type of trip - Felt a bit too much of a tourist trap than an excursion. They sell a drink "package" on the bus for water and beers. The places they take you to "shop" were also overpriced. The pick up time was supposed to be 7 AM yet at 650 the bus was already leaving and we had to chase after it. Every place you stop at has a strict time limit so be punctual or they will leave you. It's a very long day and the ruins were beautiful if you can get past the overwhelming street vendors throughout the whole site. Will not do it again but was an educational experience if they didn't try to sell you everything else. Enjoyed the history lesson on the bus and at the sites glad we got to experience that part it's a once in a lifetime moment but the rest left us not wanting to do any kind of tours.

Just an okay tour. - This tour isn’t bad but there’s a lot of people at the cenote. It’s really hard to even get one moment alone in your pictures. The tour also says all inclusive for food but when we got to the restaurant they charged us for drinks. So they gave us food and said drinks were not included. I think I missed it in the description but it’s not just Chichén Itza and a cenote. It also includes this little tour in the beginning of a Mayan city which I honestly didn’t really want to do cause I was tired. This is a very family friendly tour so there was a lot of kids which got annoying when they were crying on the bus. Tour guides we’re friends and informative though.

No Show Tour - We were unable to go on the tour as our guides never showed up at the meeting point even after we waited an hour around the arranged meeting time. They did at least grant us a refund.

Worst organized outing ever! - A disaster. There are so many negatives about this day that I could write a book, but I'll save you some time. The day began with a 45-minute wait for our driver, followed by a 2-hour drive by collectivo to Valladolide where we were dropped off at a business "at a friend's house" then allowed to spend 20 minutes to visit the city. Still a long way to go to a friend's hacienda, with offering ceremonies for tourists, market and obligatory photoshoot before having a meal (positive point). After two hours on site and another 30 minutes of driving we finally reach Chichen Itza, the main objective of the trip. However, we will only be able to stay there for an hour and a half because the site closes at 4 p.m. and we arrived at 2:30 p.m. I pass on the completely useless guide who spent his time showing us his photos with personalities. We leave at 4:45 p.m., after waiting for our drivers, towards a cenote. On the road we are shown the magnificent cenotes where we will not go to head towards a lost village where a small cenote awaits us. Obligation to rent a life jacket for swimming. 15 minutes in and 45 minutes waiting to leave. Finally, a 2.5 hour drive with a driver driving at 70 on the highway because he was falling asleep and we were scared to death trying to keep him awake so as not to die in an accident. 14 hour day for a visit to the magnificent site of Chichen Itza, but in 1h30 we do not do the tour.

16 hours of misery - This was a bait and switch. The tour company that picked us up was not the tour company that we booked. At 7AM we were waiting on the bus to pick us up. Around 7:30 AM a (scary) van picked us up and drove us into the city where we transferred to a bigger bus. The bus was miserable, so uncomfortable and one of the guides was very rude about making us sit in the back of the bus. After an hour and a half on the miserable bus we pulled over at a shopping center and waited for about 30 minutes for more people to house (they got to sit in the front of the bus). The tour guide started trying to sell us stuff almost immediately when he started talking. I am use to pushy vendors but to have a tour guide do it was shocking. After several more miserable hours we were taken to our first stop. Pushy vendors a forced photo and a terrible cafeteria style meal. Literally frozen vegetables and spaghetti… in Mexico!!! The next stop Chichen Itza was cool. It was crowded and full of pushy vendors but it was expected and worth it at that site only. The rest of the tour was very rushed and more pushy selling. We had to wait at every site because there were three people who couldn’t manage to get to the bus on time. I don’t know if that contributed to the rushed stops but it was not even worth getting off the bus at the last stop except that it was late and we were starving. 30 minutes only at the last stop, barely enough time to make it back to the bus with a few street tacos. More hours of misery on the bus, it seemed like the AC stopped working. It was very hot. We had to stop at two hotels before we were dropped off at a gas station where the scary van drove us the last hour. The 11 to 13 hour tour ended up being 16 hours! We have been on several tours in Mexico and this was by far the worst. The site was cool but the tour operator was terrible.
