- Bendery Fortress - The Fortress of Bender, located in the Transnistria region, boasts a rich and ancient history. Its origins date back to the medieval era when it served as a significant point of defense and trade. By the 13th century, the Genoese, known for their maritime prowess, extended their influence into the area. Their vessels navigated the Dniester River from the Black Sea, reaching Bender from the nearby Fortress of Akkerman (present-day Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine).
Over the centuries, the fortress grew in strategic importance, serving as a critical stronghold for various powers. It witnessed numerous battles, sieges, and political changes, reflecting the complex history of the region.
