a magical day - My daughter and I had the most magical hike with Ando Andes. It was a glorious day and the scenery was stunning in a pristine environment. The hike was moderate and had just the right amount of challenge. It was totally as described and exceeded our expectations. Thanks for a wonderful day…

The best thing to do in Santiago is leave - This was easily one of the best day tours we have done! Not only was it excellent value and incredible views, but our guide went above and beyond to teach us about Chilean culture and ecology. Cannot recommend this tour enough it was simply the best!

Excellent Tour - This is an amazing experience. If you have basic physical fitness and want to see a place ethereal in beauty, this is a no-miss excursion. Our guides Jose and Laura, and our driver Carlos, made sure our trip was a learning adventure. They told us about Chilean history, commerce, flora, fauna, geology. Be sure to wear long pants as the ground brush may be scratchy. Wear sunscreen! It can be a bit windy, so dress in layers. This is a MUST DO EXCURSION. If you have the same guide we did, you will not be disappointed.

A very nice drive and hike in the Andes. - A very well organized and comfortable tour and hike. The guides were genuinely expert and friendly. Make sure you bring warm clothes, especially a windbreaker or raincoat with a hood and a warm hat.

Cajon del Maipo at the end of August - I had one of the BEST hiking experiences ever on this trip. The weather worked out perfectly for us, the views were stunning and we saw many condors. Andrés was our guide and is super knowledgeable about the area and it was great having someone like him lead us.

Beautiful hike, terrible drive - The actual hike was beautiful with stunning scenery. Overall, it's about 6 miles, with the toughest part walking through the plateau area near the top, mainly because of very uneven ground...lots of rocks. Wear good hiking shoes and wear TONS of sunscreen - the elevation and sun is brutal and our group got fairly burnt. The outfitter supplies a sandwich (let them know in advance of any food restrictions) and hiking poles. The downside, as others have said in these reviews, is the painfully long driving time. You get picked up very early and spend about 3 hours going and coming back on the world's most uncomfortable van. Seats are tiny with thin cushioning. And you're crammed together with strangers, so the ride/transit could use some significant improvement. Overall, for the price, it's a great day trip to get out of busy Santiago.

For Expert Hikers Only - The tour operators were excellent - especially Jose. But the terrain was too difficult for me. Jose had to help me down from about half of the climb to the volcano. So I didn’t get the full experience. My age was not a factor as it was only a group of seniors. They all were expert experienced hikers. This tour should be marked as for expert hikers only.
